Post Re: Pets
Dressing up as Discworld sounds like next level. :D The most extreme I went for a Star Wars movie was in a full imperial uniform, with Shiny dressing up as A New Hope Leia in the white. I think it was awesome. I still have the imperial officer uniform, but it's... um... a little small now.

Regarding tortoises, we've owned a Russian Tortoise and a Sulcatta tortoise. They're both land tortoises, but they both died before their time, so I'm not sure I ever want to own a tortoise again. Apparently I'm a terrible tortoise parent. :(

Oops poor tortoises! Maybe you just got unlucky with genetics. Let's say that :D They are cool creatures but I think I'd find them a bit boring for a pet. I was highly amused to find out they like being brushed after a bath though

Post Re: Pets
Meet our 2 y/o female German Shepherd (GSD), Ruby.
We've had her from puppy, and apart from the pretty typical GSD characteristics, I find her particularly well settled in terms of pack position in the family and how we all communicate. Particularly since the pack consists of me, the missus, and our 2 kids (7 yo girl and 7 month old boy).
Having had GSD's before, we know that if rules and boundaries are enforced 100% from the start, the GSD quickly learns to find their place.
2 years is still very young, and they are still in their "fizzy" and excitable stage now. She will mature by around 3-4 years old.
Lots more stories, but I will just bore you :)

Post Re: Pets
Oh man, cute! I've always had a thing for German shepherds.

I seem to have been remiss and not posted about my most recent dog. We've had her for 3 years now. She's a Chow-Chow mix and required a lot of very strong control to keep from being a total terror. She's awesome though, incredibly loyal and affectionate. And very very high energy.
