Replacing the m2 on a laptop might get tricky depending on the manufacturer. In some cases you have to remove the backplate, in some cases the keyboard as well. Saw one done here at the office, the machine was pretty much 'naked' to access the m2.

Put an M2 in my new desktop and it was super easy to install but laptops... well could be a whole different experience.

Fired up Metro Exodus. Played for 2 hours. Game crashed to desktop. Somehow this deleted the save game and downloaded a fresh start autosave from the cloud - all progress lost.

Wow... that's pretty sucky! Witcher 3 sort of did that to me, when they gave all PC users the free upgrade to the GotY edition. For some reason even though that is a separate edition to the normal one, it wiped my save on the normal edition completely, even off the cloud! Hope you weren't too far through.

Regarding the picture: It's 1800x506 so that shouldn't be a problem. Everyone else should have the same message no? Or should i start a Belgian Lives Matter movement here?

Can't you just increase the quota? (I feel like I'm starting to sound like someone calling tech support and asking stupid questions)
my google search said:

The quota is set in there. As long as you have hosting space to increase it you can make that number whatever you like. It's really there as a bit of a warning just in case you accidentally filled all of your space up with attachments.

Not trying to offend your computer skills btw, and not pretending i know anything about computers. :P

Was on a holiday for a week (Zeeland, Holland) so no gaming time. One week without Terraria, see Ox, it's not addictive.

Haha, the fact that you mentioned it is already proof enough. :P "I haven't even had a drink in 3 days, clearly I'm not an alcoholic". ;-) Sounds like you did the smart thing and kept the holidays local and safe! Zeeland is pretty nice. :-)

@ Derf, after those two quick fails of the new Long Dark mode I am about 10 days into a much more successful run. :P I started out in Pleasant Valley but right outside the mine that leads to Coastal Highway, which has more shelter. So I made my way through there and spent the first night in a cabin by the seaside and in the morning walked across the ice towards one of the islands (Jackrabbit island) which has a house on it. I kept finding tons and tons of stuff - mostly clothing and food - and I successfully hunted and killed a few rabbits for food and their pelts/guts. The most important thing to not from this period is that I quickly found two very warm parkas which made it possible to be inside without freezing, very early on. Important for reading, mending clothes or harvesting carcasses.

Then I hopped to the other island and looted that place on there too. Had a brief encounter with a wolf but he basically let go before I could even fend him off because I was in very good shape (presumably). That was lucky, too, since I didn't have any weapon to fend him off with, so would have been a rough struggle if he went all-in. Anyway by this point I have so much loot that I am perma-slowed, but I want to get to the Quonset garage on the shoreline which is both very central, close to other places to loot and full of useful gear itself. So I wait for a nice clear day and do the stressful, slow trek across. I bump into a wolf when I reach the shore but distract it with some rabbit meat and safely get inside. There I loot the living daylights out of everything (in the quonset and the surrounding buildings) and end up sitting on a massive pile of food and high quality clothes. I think at this point I could have pretty much ridden out the whole remaining time by just staying put!

But that's boring as fuck of course so I decide to make for Mystery Lake with as much as I can carry. At this point I have a knife and a crowbar but still no actual offensive weapons. Tons and tons of food tho. So I take the stuff that has the best calories-per-weight ratio and walk towards the map exit. All goes well until I get caught in a blizzard in the middle of the ravine, which has no houses. Sheeet. Find a cave and barely manage to start a fire (was lucky to find a log in the cave), but I managed to warm up and took a nap in the sleeping bag next to the fire. When I woke up the blizzard had let up, and I make my way to ML proper. I have enough energy left so I walk straight on to the Camp Office. Meet a few wolves along the way but manage to lose them and safely arrive there!

I just need to find a rifle or a revolver and it'll be smooth sailing from here on out...I found so much ammo, but nothing to actually fucking shoot it with! Maybe I'll get lucky at the trapper's cabin...by this point I have such good clothes that I'm actually warming up on some sunny afternoons btw. Crafted rabbitskin mittens too. Thinking of going to Milton after I check out most of ML.

I already did restart. Basically it crashed at the loading of the first real map area where you can explore and lollygag. So no big loss. Decided to take a lil time off from games as i pretty much went through Fallout 1;2 and Tactics in one go. In addition to the Xenonauts X-Division mod which makes the game really long.

Been watching movies on netflix and Star Trek Discovery which i really like. Still Babylon 5 is my favorite but this comes really close.

Yeah no wonder you're taking a break, you're running a marathon.

I have been continuing on my long dark run, the same challenge Derf did. I explored some more of Mystery Lake...all the fishing huts and lakeside cabins, and then the trapper's hut in the woods. All in the hopes of finding a weapon of some sorts to properly hunt or defend myself with. At this point I had a knife, axe, crowbar, hacksaw...so pretty much anything I could need in terms of tools, but they don't make for much of a weapon beyond a last resort when you're already struggling with a wolf. Which you really want to avoid. My last port of call before moving on to another region was the fire lookout tower which is thankfully fairly close to my base of operations (the camp office). I climb my way up there and...oh happy day! I find a hunting rifle on the rack in there. 8-)

I already had a total of 25 bullets or so (even more revolver ones) so this will easily last me for the remainder of this challenge. Was getting late so I decided to spend the night in the tower, nice scenic spot. Cleaned the rifle out and prepared for the morning, and stood outside in the blizzard for a moment.-54 degrees Celsius. Sheeet. Next morning I make my way down to the camp office and decide to test my aim by shooting a rabbit. Bagged it. Then as I got close to the camp office I spotted a deer and figured....why the hell not? Took it down in one shot too! Now that may not sound very impressive but the long dark has a skill system and I was on the lowest rifle skill level, so that means more sway and less damage (and less critical chance). You still need to get close enough without spooking it and put in a pretty damn good shot to fell a big animal in one try.

So I skinned it and cooked up the meat, and the next morning loaded up with all the essentials for the trek to Milton. Went pretty well, but in the basin between ML and Milton I was attacked by a wolf who didn't even bother stalking me and rushed straight at me. Shot the fucker in the face, one shot again. I've come a long way from my rusty stone throwing hunting earlier in the game. Sat out a blizzard in a cave in the basin and crawled up the rope in the morning to reach Milton. Arrived at the gas station and called it a night. I think I'm on day 18 or 19 now. With my gear, food, weapons and the whole town to loot it seems very unlikely I'll lose this run anymore. But maybe I'll get bored and find another challenge. :-)

Post Re: What are you playing now?
Completed the Long Dark challenge! To pick up where I left it, after I got to Milton I looted most of the town and found tons of food, and I could have easily sat out the remaining 5 days. Hell with the amount of bullets I had I could have lived off deer and wolves until kingdom come. But since that is boring as fuck I decided to up the challenge and travel to bleak inlet, a region that I barely know. I checked the region connections (I didn't know how to get there) and realised I could get there through muskeg, which connects to Milton. So off I went!

Like Derf, I really hate/fear muskeg. It has almost no shelter, a metric shit ton of wolves, and the weak ice patches are treacherous...but I felt pretty cocky with my rifle and 30 bullets so eh. I entered the region on one side of the map and basically needed to get across, but because of the aforementioned weak ice and some traumatic past experiences with it i decided to circle the long way around. Of course, that's also where the wolves tend to hang out, and I came across a bear as well (he didn't notice me thankfully). I swear I ran into 4 different wolves in one day, and fired off 10 rounds in total to keep them at bay. It was stressful as hell. However I did get lucky with the blizzards, the one or two that I was caught in happened when I was in a relatively well sheltered spot with plenty of wood, so no biggie. I swear one blizzard lasted for a full 20 hours though. I was getting a bit worried there towards the end. :P

So I make it to bleak inlet, but not knowing the region at all and coming in from an angle without a lot of shelter I was a bit worried. It was early morning and cold as hell (but clear) and it felt like I was walking for ages across a wasteland of frozen over rivers without anything in sight. Almost went through the ice a few times too. Just as I was getting worried about hypothermia I ran into an isolated trailer and managed to warm up in there for a bit. Then I walked on until I saw the old ruined cannery in the distance, and I did remember that there were some trailers there too. When I got there everything was quiet, but after I got installed I noticed the timberwolves Derf was talking about. Jesus those guys are annoying. I think I must have fired over a dozen rounds into or at them while exploring the cannery. By that point I almost reached the 25 day mark but I wanted to get into the workshop, and read I needed a code from somewhere else for that. So I started a trek towards it. I hit the 25 day mark as I was resting a house on the way there, and the proverbial chopper came. :P Maybe I'll try to get the codes as an additional challenge, we'll see. This was good fun though. Can't believe I didn't find a single goddam revolver in those 25 days and after all that looting though...had 80 bullets at the end.

Now I'm back to playing Ion Fury (an old school shooter in the vein of Duke Nukem 3D) and The House of Da Vinci. I'm loving the former but the latter can be a bit wonky...but it's well-presented and fun enough. Well worth the massive 3.5 euro investment. :P

Picked up far cry 5 because metro keeps crashing on me. Not sure if the problem is in the motherboard or the gpu, no way of finding out. FC5 runs ok though.

@J

Try it now. I think what happened is that the board exceeded the total allowed size of attachments, which was set to 1GB. I've bumped up the limit, so you should be good now.

This reminds me of the walkthroughs you used to get in magazines for Spectrum games! Love it.

J, a few comments about that pic of yours :-)

- It seems like you got the infestation thingie mostly contained in one of the shafts. How did you do that? If I remember correctly it would take over most of the map after a while in our shared server(s). :-D

- I see what you did there with the islands in the sky ;-)

I finished Ion Fury yesterday. Fucking loved it. A new Build engine game that plays so smoothly but at the same time gives you that warm glow of nostalgia. :-) Highly recommended!
