It looks great, but I don't have Hulu. :-( Maybe it will reach these here shores in other ways tho!

Watched Spring Breakers again. Such a great movie. With this scene as the absolute highlight of course:

I'll up the weirdness and say that I can see both videos. :P

@ Satis, I'd recommend you watch it. The movie is written and directed by Harmony Korine, who also wrote Kids and Gummo back in the 90s if those ring a bell.

I never watched kids, but I watched gummo. That was a fucked up movie. Thanks for the tip, I'll see if I can wrangle up a copy.

BTW, watched the Invisible Man recently. OMG, that movie was terrible. I have no idea how it's gotten such good ratings.

Oh damn...Elisabeth Moss is a pretty great actress so I figured her presence alone would have made it work, but I guess not. :-( I'll still give it a spin when I can though.

Watched The Irishman yesterday, all 3.5 hours in one go. Wonderful movie. The only gripe I have with it is the weird decision to let De Niro and co play their (much) younger selves with the de-aging techniques. It works well when it's just a close up shot without a lot of movement but the moment they move you can tell it's not the movement of a man who is supposed to be around 40 years old. It's really jarring.

But these old geezers sure can still act. Pesci, De Niro and especially Pacino are great. I thought Pacino was done but what he pulls off in this one is some of his best stuff ever. Crazy. Can't believe I wasn't bored for one minute during all three and a half hours....beautiful cinematography, great soundtrack, amazing script, top notch acting. And that ending...

haha... funny... Shiny and I hated that movie. It was so slow and boring. The de-aging was horrible... I guess we agree there. It did not look like a young de niro curb stomping some guy, it looked really stupid and fake. *shrug* Also, Pesci's nose looks like a penis. It's horrible. :p

So, you may like the invisible man. To Shiny and I it had some seriously bad plot holes. There's also a scene involving a knife and some casual dinnertime murder that makes no sense at all. That was a 3 tequila shot scene at a minimum. however, please, watch it.

That aside, I did indeed wrangle up a copy of spring breakers, but have not yet watched it. I imagine that'll happen this coming weekend. I'm kinda looking forward to it. The opening boobs scene was a strong encouragement. :p We did finish Crossing Swords and it was pretty good all the way through.. worth a watch if you want. Also watched the Altered Carbon: Resleeved anime on netflix, enjoyed it quite a bit. I like that whole universe and both seasons so far, so not surprising. The resleeved was more a standalone anime movie, but cut in the same mold.

Also watched Space Force on netflix. I'm not a big fan of Steve Carrel(sp?), but I really enjoyed the show. Some rather enormous science issues, but hey, whatever.

Oh yeah that's exactly the scene I had in mind when I wrote that! There were a few others but that one was by far the worst offender. And I can like slow and boring movies when I'm in the right mood. Like The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. It's basically nothing but beautiful wide angle shots of prairie and slow subdued conversations. Just gotta drink a whiskey and roll with it. P

Enjoy Spring Breakers! Something tells me you're not gonna love it, but it definitely isn't slow and boring. :P

Well, this could be interesting...

https://variety.com/2020/tv/news/fallou ... 234696997/

Quote:
‘Fallout’ Series From ‘Westworld’ Creators in the Works at Amazon

Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy have set their sights on creating another expansive sci-fi series.

The “Westworld” duo are developing a show at Amazon based on the “Fallout” video game franchise. Their Kilter Films banner is producing the project which has a series commitment penalty attached, meaning it would go directly to series if Amazon execs are on board with the scripts.

The “Fallout” series, which began in 1997 with the original game, is set in a world where the future envisioned by Americans in the late 1940s explodes upon itself through a nuclear war in 2077. With their Amazon project, Nolan and Joy will look to bring “the harshness of the wasteland set against the previous generation’s utopian idea of a better world through nuclear energy,” to the small screen. The project will look to retain the games’ “harsh tone,” which making sure it is still “sprinkled with moments of ironic humor and B-movie-nuclear-fantasies” which players of the epic franchise know and love.

The series hails from Amazon Studios and Kilter Films in association with the games’ producers Bethesda Game Studios and Bethesda Softworks. Nolan and Lisa Joy, who signed a blockbuster overall deal with Amazon last year, will exec produce alongside Athena Wickham for Kilter Films, with Todd Howard as an EP for Bethesda Game Studios, and James Altman for Bethesda Softworks. Lionsgate is also executive producing the series.

I watched Spring Breakers... that's a pretty good movie. I definitely liked it, so thanks for recommending it. Also rewatched Starship Troopers... I still love that movie.

As for Fallout... I'm kind of excited. Assuming it becomes a reality, I'd love to see all that retro-futurism-apocalypse translated into live action.

Welcome! Glad you liked it. It walks this weird line between the surreal and realistic, and Franco is just amazing. LOOK AT ALL MY SHIT!

Man I think I watch Starship Troopers at least once a year - same for some other classics like Escape from NY/LA, Bloodsport and of course Under Siege. Those movies are like security blankets.

I got high hopes for the Fallout series too - Westworld makers clearly know how to make good TV and create 'different worlds', and the world of Fallout is so weird, interesting and bleak that it makes for an interesting canvas to paint on.

Yea, I think there's a lot of room for Fallout to be amazingly standout. Between the retro-futuristic 1950s chic and the super bleak reality... it can definitely be amazing.

BTW, I watched The Old Guard on Netflix recently. I liked it. This is about a group of immortal soldiers running around being badass.

Don't expect too much from it and you'll probably like it.

I found the movie really weak. There's really no saving factor. Almost everything seemed like half-assed. Perhaps not the final dive though, that was actually ok but you can see it coming the moment they step into the room.

I did however like the movie 'Lost bullet'. Its a french action film. Make sure you set the voice over to original because the English one is ridiculously bad and use subtitles instead.
