Haha, i have time, I just waste it on other shit. :( And you're welcome Derfmeister, but that skirmish DLC is actually the first pack that came out like 6 months ago. :) It's been in 'limbo' all this time (sent, but not opened) and because of the new steam gift manager thingie pop-up screen it's been prompted again. The same happened to me for the Orcs Must Die! DLC I got from Peltz a while ago...i'd accepted the main game but didn't realize I hadn't accepted the DLC.

There's actually a new skirmish pack out for MoW: AS and it's supposed to be less formulaic than the first DLC, which wasn't great imho. Still if you ever get back on the PC bandwagon we should totally get the old crew together!

This is the blurb for the new Skirmish pack DLC, it sounds great...

Quote:
Receive a full set of 5 new skirmish missions, 1 for each faction, USA, Germany, Soviet Union, Commonwealth, Japan.

Mission objectives are very different to the existing ones in Men of War: Assault Squad and provide a completely new challenge as your task is to infiltrate enemy lines, assassinate enemy officers, stop convoys and capture strategic positions to support on-going allied offensives.

Skirmishes are created for enormous replayability. Strategic positions, defenses and enemy patrols vary each time you launch a mission. This leads to challenging and refreshing gameplay that you haven’t seen in Men of War: Assault Squad before!

So many sales...and the Steam Christmas sale hasn't even started yet.

A new Humble Bundle - a really good one imho, too.

http://www.humblebundle.com/

Shank looks like a fun way to pass the time, Night Sky is supposed to be pretty good as is Bit Trip Runner. I personally hated Super Meat Boy with a vengeance (quite literally), but it's gotten universal praise and seems to be loved by many. Anyhoo, I'm prolly getting the bundle.

The Little Big Bunch...same principle as the Humble Bundle, different games. Frozen Synapse is very good, New Star Soccer can be a lot of fun and SS: Double D looks appealingly insane. Oh and the Oddworld Odyssee is probably know to all of us already.

Indieroyale Christmas Bundle, again same principle.

http://www.indieroyale.com/

I don't care for any of these games except for the Blackwell Trilogy, so I probably will not buy this. Too bad, since I really like the look of the Blackwell Trilogy. Looks like something Derf might enjoy too.

Furthermore, GoG has a 50% off of (almost) everything in its catalogue. A great opportunity to pick up some old games.

Looks like the upcoming Steam sale will again include the system of "get achievements in these games, win X" like during the summer sale. Not too happy with it, also because I don't seem to own nearly as many of the games that will feature in it. :P

Here's a leaked list

hmmm, if that's accurate, kinda lame. I'm not sure I'll be motivated to even care.

Everyone in eastern europe is either a pirate or sells women into slavery. I think. Or is a woman about to be sold into slavery.

So i'm guessing I'm the only one who even looked into the Great Gift Pile thing? :P

Time for a short explanation:

- like in the summer competition, doing the daily achievements will get you stuff. You can do any achievement anytime between 19 december -2 January so no hurry for those. Each achievement will get you either:

1) a full game (usually smaller or older ones, but can be new ones like SS3: BFE)
2) a coupon for a game or a company's games
3) a lump of coal, 7 of those can be crafted to get a free game or you can keep them. Each one is one entry into the great steam prize lottery.

Here's a list of all (known) rewards so far, games and/or coupons.

Here's an achievement guide if you need help.

The great lottery prizes:

Grand price: One luckily winner will receive all games available on Steam!

1st price: 50 winners will get the first 10 games on their Steam wishlist paid by Valve.
2nd price: 100 winners will receive the first 5 games on their Steam wishlist.
3rd price: 1000 winners will get the Valve Complete Pack donated.

As usual, you need 10 games on your wishlist to be eligible.

I'm sure most achievements are too much of a bother for most of us, but the 'top' one every day is usualyl some random one like join a steam group or write a recommendation so is worth the effort.

The main reason I made this thread is because I wanted to perhaps trade games and/or coupons we win. (yes, they are all tradeable) I haven't gotten very lucky so far and got these:

-33% of any Valve game
-50% off Brink
-50% off Jamestown

And 2 lumps of coal. Anyone got anything else and maybe wants to trade?

Post Re: Steam sales thread and other bargain stuff
This is how you can get the achievement done.

Build in the numerical order but with some exceptions.

1. Start here, build the temporal, cannon and two teslas, hold off with the meteors for later. Dont upgrade to level 2 before you have 1 to 4 built.

2. Build the second part completely but before building nr 3 build the command post and upgrade it fully, do not build anything else in 5.

Next build 3 and 4. Dont build 5 yet nor the meteors in 1.

Upgrade Cannons and teslas in 1 to 3 to mark 2.
Upgrade cannons and teslas in 1 to 3 to mark 3.
Build meteors and build 5. upgrade 4 mark 2.

Basically have every weapon possible at mark 2. You only need mark 3 at 1 but not the meteors, they only need mark 2. Also at nr 2 and half the teslas mark3 at 4. Upgrading teslas at 3 to mark3 is optional. At 5 you need the lower cannon and tesla to be m3 and the command must be mark3. Hope this helps. Before building mark3 anywhere, make sure you have all cannons and teslas mark2.

EDIT: Temporals can be mark2, no need for mark3.

I think he's talking about Defense Grid. you may wanna specify, Peltz. :)

I have
-33% valve
-66% two worlds
1 lump of coal
very little "give a shit"

I can't bring myself to actually care about these contests. Hell, nuking santa should be easy in Defcon... but just not worth it to me.

You cant choose adrenaline mode on every map, so it should be the third or fourth to the right, the first one that actually lets you choose adrenaline mode. Also my score should be visible at top left once you hover your mouse over the adrenaline mode.

K I found the map you meant. I won it with 20k of money left and no cores going missing (some taken off but the aliens were killed almost instantly and they drifted back to the main core), not using the laser, and I scored a few k below 100. Wtf? What are the factors for scoring? Do you score less if they reach the core, even if they don't manage to take anything back?
