BTW, he's fucking people over. That was for the iPad too. Changes? New ios. Same battery. Same screen. Faster processor.

And this is somehow supposed to be competitive with the crazy innovation happening elsewhere. The messed up thing... the Apple lovers will gobble that shit up and buy 5 each.

oh, btw, he also misquoted the ceo of samsung as saying 'In terms of sell-out, we believe it was quite small' instead of 'quite small'. This was a misquote and widely corrected shortly thereafter as being 'quite smooth'. However, I guess Steve Jobs didn't get that memo, or know how to use the internet.

Heh, not like any of the Apple believers are gonna question his word anyway.

Also, Jobs' presentations are apparently somehow regarded as the pinaccle of business presentations. If you type 'steve jobs' and 'presentations' in google you get how to present like jobs, jobs style polished presentations and whatever. I mean, really? Have these people ever watched a Jobs presentation? It's good, sure, but how is it magical or super-duper awesome?

His charisma is so-so and what he does is basically a commercial presentation talk disguised as a business-like power point presentation. The only difference between him and other CEO's is that other CEO's don't have hordes of gullible yes-men applauding for everything he does.

I swear, during that short vid of his presentation, I was expecting cheers from the crowd on everything he said. 'Our engineers have prolonged battery life' and I expected the crowd to go 'yeah!! APPLE ROCKS!' If you listen closely, there are actually people going 'whoo!' or wanting to, almost every time he announces something like that.

Wish we had a puke icon. :P

For some stupid reason I logged into the SalesForce keynote speech a few weeks back. Such total horseshit world-changing statements, it really is sickening to hear that so many fat cats and desperate millionaire wannabes get a hard on for what is essentially software and hot air.

I think you hit that on the head Derf - all those losers with apple hard-ons are typically the kind of people who want to be cool, part of the in-crowd, upwardly mobile. It's of course ironic that they don't realise that they are being pimped by those who are REALLY the in-crowd, and that they'll never be part of it by buying Macs. Same with middle-class kids buying incredibly expensive clothes and phones...maybe you'll impress your pals in high school, but not your parents bank-account. NO MORE COLLEGE FOR YOU (if they could have handled it to begin with).

This summer, I was sitting on a terrace with 2 friends and there was a guy (40-ish) sitting there alone with an Ipad. I wanted to grab the ipad, smack him over the head with it, then burn it and make him watch (clockwork orange style keeping his eyelids open).

It was a hipster café, so he was probably looking to score some impressionable student girl. That may be an understandable goal in itself, but the ipad...no, just no.

Thousands of Owners Ditch Old iPads for Newer Model

*sigh*

The next story, though:
Just How Bad Is the iPad 2 Camera?
It seems impossible for Apple to put a decent camera into anything but the iPhone, and despite many hopes, both cameras in the iPad 2 are about as rudimentary as you could get without having to load a roll of film in there.

Heh, so surprising.

Since this is the funny stuff thread after all, I found this hilarious quote from the lead editor of a Mac fan website

Quote:
"The things people associate with the brand are liberty, creativity and a sense of individuality"

- Leander Kahney, editor of Cult of Mac blog

Hahaha! It's a fucking closed platform! They only sell scores and scores of the same model, no customization. How do any of those words even apply.

Upgrading from Dos 5.0 to Windows 7... includes going from Dos to win1, win2, win3, win3.1, win95, win98, win98se, win2k, winxp, win vista and, finally, win7. Obviously it's not crazy in depth, but surprisingly interesting.

The iPad 2 is 33 percent thinner than the original iPad; a significant design difference. That means first-generation iPad cases won’t fit on the new iPad. And when the iPad 2 ships March 11, Apple, the only company that’s had direct access to the iPad 2, will be the only vendor selling a case made to fit the product just right.

That gives Apple a few weeks to rake in juicy profits with the $40-$70 Smart Cover before third-party case manufacturers whip up other variations of protective accessories for the iPad 2. Keep in mind the most sales for a product typically come on launch day, plus Apple retail stores carefully select which third-party cases they display on shelves. With the Smart Cover, Apple can potentially create a temporary pseudo-monopoly on protective cases for the iPad 2, bringing in millions of dollars in profits to pad hardware sales.

Quote:
To be fair, it’s a well-designed cover, and the ability to prop up the iPad at an angle makes it easier to type on a touchscreen. But it’s a plastic cover with a magnet on it, people.

Steve Jobs even noted that the case is made of polyurethane, “which is used to make spacesuits.” Polyurethane is also used to make some condoms, baby toys, carpet underlayment and mattress filling, facts which Jobs neglected to mention.

The Smart Cover comes in leather, too, and surprisingly Jobs didn’t note that leather is the same material used to make Phillip Lim motorcycle jackets or Olivia Harris purses.

Heh...if you'd have told people 10 years ago that MS was beginning to look like 'the good guy' and Apple as the evil empire, no one would have believed it. :/

That windows upgrading video was pretty neat. :) Like the guy making the vid, I can't but help feeling a little bit of respect for MS making this possible. More tyical of them would have been to go 'fuck it' every time a new OS was announced. But even they are no Apple.
