Re: Steam sales thread and other bargain stuff
After much deliberation, I did the same thing. Gotta...stop...buying...games. BUT THEY'RE SO CHEAP!! My steam backlog is looking pretty impressive already. I buy them for several reasons...some are "might play later on a low-end laptop when away" games like the Dawn of War series, some are interesting but I would never buy at full price (Tropico 3, GTA IV) and some are just so dirt cheap that I can't resist after a price analogy in beers. (Mirror's Edge which cost 2.5 € at Christmas, around the price of a beer). Someone please stop me (jk...but yeah, too much temptation)

Re: Steam sales thread and other bargain stuff
I never finished Mirror's Edge. Just not that great of a game... they did a lot of it right, but it just gets boring. Love the art style and some of the mechanics, though.

Re: Steam sales thread and other bargain stuff
Yeah, but for 2.5 € I wasn't bothered anyway. And who knows, I might be unemployed in a few months. Drinking beer will be a lot less enticing then (because expensive).

Re: Steam sales thread and other bargain stuff
King Arthur the roleplaying game is on sale at steam. The pack goes for 11€. The game has a demo if anyone is interested but to summarize it the game plays like Heroes of Might and Magic on the campaign map and battles play out similar to Total War games. Try the demo.

Re: Steam sales thread and other bargain stuff
11 €? It's 17 € for me. If I hadn't so many games on backlog I'd have bought it. At 11 € I might have bought it now, but 17 €? A little too rich for my blood!

Re: Steam sales thread and other bargain stuff
Nah, you are looking at the full neocore pack. Look for ONLY King Arthur pack.

Re: Steam sales thread and other bargain stuff
Oh ok. But it's still 13,60 € for me. OUTRAGE!!! I spent too much money this month already and have to go in for a root canal (expensive) in the neat future. =( Gah.

Well, this is a pretty great deal: Green Man Gaming (a gaming download service) has opened doors and offers a selection of their catalogue for free to celebrate it. Only one piece per person, obviously. http://www.greenmangaming.com/

Damn. Was gonna get Grand Ages: Rome or VVVVVVV. Their servers were under a lot of stress so I guess that was the reason they stopped the promo...free on the interweb = server overloads.

ooh, mass effect is on sale on Saturday. I may just need to pick it up. Hope it's a good sales price.

Re: Steam sales thread and other bargain stuff
I bought the C&C: Red Alert 3 expansion Uprising for 5€. Had a lot of fun with RA3 so looking forward to it, even if it's supposed to be so-so compared to the original game. Mirror's Edge dirt cheap today, worth picking up. Oh and Mass Effect 2 is definitely worth it. I just finished a second run with a new character, still fun. There are some annoying parts (the planet scanning for minerals, storyline is fairly obvious and suffers from "2nd part of a trilogy" syndrome) but overall it's incredibly atmospheric with amazing voice action and cinematic direction all over the board. Don't expect an RPG in the sense of DA, but more of an interactive action scifi epos. The fact that you don't have a save for your original Shepard may make you a little less inclined to like the game though, I don't know. Still powerful game on its own. And if that didn't convince you, there's always the launch trailer which you can only ignore if you have no soul http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2O-0-fQOOs
