It got sucked into the vortex that is Valve Time, obviously. :( Let's hope it gets a surprise release this weekend - I took next week off.

well, that's lame. So by the time the Passing finally comes out, we'll be playing Serious Sam. Silly. Stupid Valve. Give me my free content now!

I don't know, depends how much fun it is. 6 player co-op is awfully tempting. Besides, Shiny will be pressuring me to play the game she can participate in.

I think 6 player SS can easily equal the greatness of The Passing. The way I see it, very soon we're going to be spoiled for choice regarding weekend gaming. Maybe Saturday SS day and Sunday L4D day.

yea, but I won't get to play until the weekend, probably. How does the coop work with save games and stuff? Can people just join in and drop out whenever and saves are up to the host, or what? Also, am I correct in assuming that someone runs as server, or are there dedicated servers out there? If the former, I'm hoping someone has a box and connection capable of pushing this many players.

In SS1 it's more of a sequence of maps where you shoot shit than any actual coherent game. :) So there you just loaded a map and got cracking. I'm guessing it'll be the same in SS2 only with a story of sorts, which is actually good since it'll be easier to remember where we left off. In SS1 that was sometimes hard to remember cause all maps looked same-ish.

Don't worry too much about the playing with 6 together thing. When we were playing SS1 (me, O'Cram, Derf) one of us would host and it'd be just fine. Then again they were both on the same network then...mmm. Well we could probably find a server somewhere anyway if it becomes a problem. :)

I actually thought the maps all looked unique, and at least felt unique too. But yeah, carrying on simply consists of selecting the map where you left off last time. Can't remember if you need to have played them in order to see the maps revealed on the list.

In terms of hosting, i don't think this should be a problem. I'm under the impression that SS is a pretty server-lite game.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't hating on the maps. They were different in what they did yeah, but their overall design was always the same Egypt-style architecture. SS2 had/will have more variation so that's nice. :)

aight, cool, thanks for the info. Looking forward to this weekend, though Shiny and I are planning a small get-together, so I can't be 100% sure I'll actually get to play. Crawfish boil ftw.

Under steam tools there is a Serious Sam HD dedicated server tool so it shouldnt be too hard to set up. As i understand it doesn't have such a willy nilly lobby system as L4D(2) so that definitely helps. I should have my router fixed by tomorrow evening. I have a separate pc i could run it on. We are however looking at not very good pings. I can setup hamachi on that pc as well if there are connection problems. I have one PC in the city as well on a separate internet connection that could host a server.

Cool Peltz. :) It just sucks that you're not one of the more centrally located players (me, Derf, O'Cram) so we could spread ping goodness all around. But it might work! We'll see how the pings are if we just let someone host locally first perhaps, so we won't have to put you through the whole bother of setting up a server for nothing.

It should be out tonight - if I can download it in time before bedtime I might give it a testrun with Derf, Peltz or O'Cram. We'll see. :)

Well the game is pre-loadable, just open the library page, click on SS, the on the right tab in the upper left corner is the pre-load button. I'll leave for the city in a few minutes so i'll leave it to reinstalling L4d2 and pre-loading SS.
