 Re: Good films..
Nicholas Cage? I'm not seeing him as associated with that movie. Of course, I absolutely despise Nicholas Cage, so him not being in that movie is a plus. The trailer was... wtf... I'm not going to be going to the theater to see this one. Maybe a renter.

Yeah, he's in it. He even does an Adam West-ish thing with the way he speaks when in costume. He's a support character though, and apart from one scene he didn't bother me at all. And Satis, I think you might be mistaking the movie for a teenage thing or standard superhero movie or something. It actually very much knocks the genre and at the same time surpasses it. And it's got some seriously amazing fight scenes. RT has got an overall score of 95% for it so far. http://au.rottentomatoes.com/m/1217700-kick_ass/She is 12.

 Re: Good films..
Well, perhaps we will see. Zombieland was a great movie, but I wouldn't have thought so prior to actually seeing it. Perhaps this is cast in a similar mold.

I want to see Clash of the Titans but my friends are all going "meeh looks really stupid" because they're intellectuals who can't enjoy their primal side anymore.

Losers lol. I'd love to see that too. And Robin Hood looks quite good. And Prince of Persia. And How to Tame a Dragon!

Sounds like they're a bunch of posers that pretend to be too intelligent to publicly indulge their baser natures. I bet they have secret weekend sessions with Christina Aguilara videos and a jar of mayonnaise

 Re: Good films..
I watched the movies on both of my flights this weekend. One was The Blind Side. Hmm, while yes it is sad it lacked substance. Who hasn't seen a movie where the parent doesn't give a shit about a kid before or a kid who everyone thinks is dumb but is really not, just no person took interest in the kid before. I dunno, I get tired of the same thing again and again.
The other movie I watched was Everybody's Fine. This actually was not a great movie, but it made me feel more for Robert Deniros character than the other movie. I think it did a very good job showing how alone he was feeling and how he was just trying to change how he had been all his life. I took away from this that you shouldn't try to help a bum, and that you can always change who you are if you want to. I'd only give it like 3 stars our of 5 though. Maybe 2.5.

 Re: Good films..
Haha, I don't know about the jar of mayonaise and Xtina, but yeah, I never got why they hate the mindless entertainment blockbuster movies either. Hell I even mildly enjoyed the GI Joe movie and it was shit. The fact that I got in for free may have something to do with it, though, but still. You gotta take those movies for what they are and roll with it...they're not supposed to be deep or surprising or moving. I hate common folk as much as the next intellectual elitist, but jeez, that doesn't stop me from indulging in some mindless entertainment once in a while. Ah well. Btw, Shiny's movies made me think of the awful, awful trailer I saw for "Dear John" in the theatre. Basically it's a romantic drama of a chick writing her man who's a GI in Iraq...it looked like the worst type of melodramatic propaganda trash tearjerker you could imagine.

 Re: Good films..
heh, yea, there are some movies that I just know will be complete and utter garbage. Like Hollywood 'tearjerker' movies for the most part. Bah. But I can get into a good, violent movie every once in a while. Though GI Joe looked so bad from teh little bit I watched that I had no inclination to see the whole movie. Zomg retarded. There's a limit, even for me.

 Re: Good films..
Haha, and it was retarded, actually. Mostly for one reason: the awful, awful and very contrived romance subplot between Marlon Wayans and a very serious GI Joe chick. I mean, I've seen some bad romance writing/acting in my day but that one took the cake. So cheesy that you started wondering if they were taking the piss. But like I said, I won the tickets in an online contest so I didn't mind too much. Probably would have felt less thrilled if I had spent 10 € on it. I once had an ex explain the basic plot of the romantic movie "P.S. I Love You" to me. The way she explained it to me the guy in the couple died from a disease early on and then (I assume through video and letters and whatnot) guided and supported his widow from beyond the grave, even helped her find a new man. ... I mean...what?!

 Re: Good films..
yea, not so big on the contrived plots. Like various mystery/thriller movies and such where the killer magically knows everything that his trackers are going to do, regardless of how nonsensical and convoluted.
