I hate Apple... just for the record.

haha, those HP/Compaq numbers are HILARIOUS. And so very predictable. :)

I hate apple as well. But it if I were a handsome yuppie wannabe writer with a trust fund and no real interest in games I'd be all over it. For someone who doesn't play games it's actually the only sensible choice. If Apple didn't suck so hard. :x

Just fyi, despite popular misconceptions, Apple computers do crash and have various other problems. I was forced to use one for a graphics class and, besides being old and slow as shit, they were problematic. Nothing like Photoshop crapping out on you after you failed to save for awhile.

So yea... my PC is just as reliable as the Mac. I think it's more a perception and usage thing. But hey, whatever, I have no hard numbers to back that assertion up.

I dont hate apple. I hate what it represents. When you buy our beatiful white plastic you are better than the dirty pc peasants. Its the attitude i hate. In my eyes they are all computers that work in a very similar fashion and after my Alienware incident i am immune to bling bling bells and whistles.

It seems Apple takes another victory.

Quote:
Consumer Reports surveyed over 7,000 of its readers and declared its list of companies that provided the overall most satisfactory tech support for laptop and desktop computers...

...Based on responses from owners of 3,685 laptop computers, Apple scored 86 points out of 100. Second place Lenovo earned a 63; third place Toshiba had 60; fourth place Dell has a 56; and HP/Compaq has a 53. Trailing far behind was Acer/Gateway/eMachines with 39...

...The running selection for desktop brands was narrower with only four brands. Based on responses from owners of 3,711 desktop computers, Apple takes top spot at 87 points out of 100. Dell scored 55 for second place; HP/Compaq scored 53 for third; and Acer/Gateway/eMachines grabbed another 39.

Apple's gotten really good marks for tech support and reliability and crap for years. When I worked in a call center, they used to trumpet those numbers often as something for us to aim for. They also mentioned that the Apples and Apple support isn't really THAT great... but they do a good job of making their users happy about waiting in queue and having a broke PC, thus the high marks.
