 Re: Funny Stuff II
I think that by 2020 all the theatres will have cellphone and other "connecting" device isolation.

 Re: Funny Stuff II
the problem with block cell signals is 911 (emergency). If someone tries to call 911 for an emergency and can't, that theater is liable.

 Re: Funny Stuff II
Hey Ox, if you'd finally buy a modern phone, you could listen to music while commuting, and cut out all that crap.

 Re: Funny Stuff II
I bought an MP3 player for exactly that reason a month ago I haven't used it that much so far though, because I really like to read on the train. I pretty much only use it when a) it's competely impossible for me to read (retard alert) or b) I'm too tired to keep my attention on the book.

 Re: Funny Stuff II
Not sure if it's possible, but in the UK if you don't have signal on your phone you can stall call emergency numbers (112, 999). So could it theoretically be possible to block out the networks and not the emergency coverage? Mind you, they'd probably ring up 999 for a chat instead. My first serious girlfriend had serious parent problems, they were very interfering. She wouldn't turn her phone off in the cinema, or put it on silent mode. And if her parents rang she would always answer - no matter what. I used to get very, VERY pissed off with it. Often I'd just kind of duck down in the seat and pretend I wasn't with her. And like I said, she'd answer it no matter what, if you get my drift. So one time I did something she'll never forget

 Re: Funny Stuff II
lol... my chick will occasionally answer the phone at inopportune times. So I made it a point to attempt to distract her or make he make noises as much as possible while she was on the phone with her dad or mom or whoever it was. She doesn't really answer the phone any more. :p
I'm not sure if it's possible to selectively block dialing for everything but the emergency numbers. That'd be a great solution if it were. People also text at the theater, which is equally annoying. The bright glare of the screen (and possibly beeping) is just as annoying as a call. So you'd have to selectively block that, too.
An alternative is hard core rules about phone use, and a theater not afraid to boot people out for violating them. That, I think, is really the solution. kick em out, no refund... they're get the picture. If they walk out of the theater into the lobby to make their call, no worries.

 Re: Funny Stuff II
It's always somewhat satisfying to see someone having the rules upheld against them. I get the same feeling when I'm walking down the street, and some dick head is clearly going to walk right in to me because he thinks he's a hard knock. I'm a big enough guy on average anyway, (6'2'') never mind the fact that I'm deceptively heavy. Until I started my recent fast I was 15st 6lb on average, at one point up to 6 and a half stone. I've never been really 'fat' or anything, but always got a bit of a belly. I digress... So anyway, when the walk right up to you and clearly aren't gonna move out of your way - I just stay my path and walk right in to them. They're usually somewhat shocked when they're the ones that get knocked back Such a rewarding feeling, telling pricks their place. And nice one, on the phone thing The problem is though, generally speaking cinema staff are just regular kids who're just there because you need no skill to do the job - they're not usually big enough guys, or bothered enough guys, to want to go throwing people out. Sure, they have security and such but as we stated in the other thread - there's not a fat lot you can do about anything without getting sued!

 Re: Funny Stuff II
lol at the picture. See the sign in the back? "I want to be a valet"? Seriously? Wtf? Great muscles on that dude. Anyway, @Mole, yea, it's nice to knock people aside for being dicks or just not paying attention. I don't usually do it, but despite my small size, I'm fairly solid... plus 18 years of mosh pits has attuned me on how to hit people properly. I'm not gonna lie, I had to look up how much a damn stone weighs. I've heard the expression, but it's practically foreign. Like firkins in a hogshead. Or kilos.

Lol, I didn't even see that valet thing the first time. And I'm proud not to know how much a stone is.

 Re: Funny Stuff II
CAD never was really funny. At best, they hit some nice observations about games and player behavior. But compared to Penny Arcade, it's the little leagues. PA is smart, funny (often to the point of hilarity), nerdy and opinionated without being dickish. Not to mention that it's drawn much better.

I think the art is ok, but yea, the humor just isn't very humorous.
