I especially liked the 2nd or 3rd girl, the darker one with the long hair. Mmm. Is it me or can you hear the enjoyment in the voices of the guys who are cheering them on?

And yeah, Fort Boyard is the shit. I wonder if Americans even know it?

I especially love the diving sequences where they have to swim their way through submerged abandoned catacombs, or at the end when they need to collect the cash and the gates are slowly coming down and the lions are loose. :P And the fact that people could get imprisoned along the way really added to the fun.

Quote:
The LA Times reports that a dispute at a Lancaster Cinemark 22 movie theater started out as a complaint about cell phone use during the movie, but eventually ended with a meat thermometer plunged into the complainer's neck.

Sometime later the two men returned to the theater and stabbed the victim in the throat with the meat thermometer. The suspects fled the scene and are currently still at large. The wounded man was rushed to the emergency room with "serious wounds" and remains hospitalized.

Sheesh. All the more confirmation that people who are on their phones in movie theatres and fucking trains are the ultimate assholes and lowlives (to be fair, people don't call in movie theatres here - but they do on the train, which is when I'm trying to read! ARGH)

I don't understand the problem of calling in a train. Apparently it's all fine when two people in the train talk to each other, but if you can't hear half the conversation, it suddenly annoys people. Are you people all voyeurs?
Off course, when someone talks loudly, that's annoying, but equally so when it's done to someone in the train.

Well, I can understand Ox's anger if it's in the Quiet Coach. Dunno if you guys bother with them, but on most of the Virgin trains over here there's one coach where the use of electronic equipment (MP3 players, phones, laptops) is 'discouraged' though not outlawed. Conversations are to be kept quiet etc.

But generally, in any other coach people on the train are allowed to make as much noise as they want, to a socially acceptable level anyway.

In the Cinema, yes, they're ass holes.

Post Re: Funny Stuff II
It doesn't annoy me that I only hear one part of the conversation. :P Usually the people talking on the phone in the train are of the retarded kind that will repeat their own and their conversation partner's words 2-3 times so you can always follow anyway. ;)

Why I hate it? because

a) a majority of people YELL when on the phone, even when they talk at normal levels in a face-to-face conversation
b) I've known people who call for 30+ minutes in a row on the train. Yesterday even, between Brussels and Antwerp (35 minutes) a Dutch woman who didn't sound very intelligent was taking ALL TRIP LONG to arrange where to meet when she would arrive in Amsterdam, repeating herself 5 times or so. She had a Gelders accent which made it even worse.
c) When they talk for a long time, they inevitably talk about bullshit. I once sat on a train with a guy who was talking for 20 minutes to his girlfriend who was complaining that she didn't want to go to work and wanted to call in sick for a while, then the conversation went on to "what will we eat tonight" and "where are you along the way?" and other inane bullshit.

I don't mind people making short, clear calls, but not these scum of society types who have no regard for social nuances (ie for me and my book  ). I can't read and have people talk around me at the same time - it ruins my attention span (a common male problem, I know). If they talk really soft or in a foreign language, it's ok. It's even ok if there's a general soft humming of many conversations, without one standing out. But people who will talk loudly in an otherwise silent wagon, I want to kill brutally. That Dutch chick yesterday, after 30 mins of her crap, I wanted to punch her in the face when I got off. Seriously. She had an ugly, dumb mug that asked for it too.

As a rule, on a train, I avoid sitting next to:

- women (more likely to call for long time about bull)
- black or brown people (idem - also tend to speak very loud)
- groups of people who clearly know each other (should be obvious)
- people already on a phone (duh)

I also try to sit in the corner seats and avoid the 4-seats if I can. Less chance of being caught in a train talker crossfire. When it's a non-stop train I often just deliberately go into one of the entrance parts between two wagons and read there while standing up. It's preferable to sitting next to loud morons.

Sorry. I get a little homocidal in public social situations. I also get aggressive when people at the table next to me in a bar make so much noise that I can't hear myself talk anymore. I don't like loud things. Except when it's in games and shit is blowing up.

lol, it sounds like Ox may have some anger issues. Since I don't read in public, I can't really comment. I get annoyed by small things as well, so I'm sure it's something similar.

If someone is on a cell phone in a theater, that's a different story. They deserve death. I don't think I'd go to the point of putting a meat thermometer into their neck, though. I'd probably start by pelting them with popcorn.
