 Re: Command and Conquer 4
That chick must have mental issues. Once in a YEAR!? Fuck that. I get laid more when I'm single. Err, anyway, I don't think that relationship would have lasted a year for me. I have needs.

 Re: Command and Conquer 4
Oh yeah, I wouldn't have let it last that long myself either, but I suppose he must have had his reasons. Dunno. More insanity, which very recently happened to me: I was seeing this woman on and off in a non-exclusive non-relationship kind of way (killing time before someone I really like came along). We did the whole dates, day trips and saucy text messages and you know what thing and it was good and fun. Near the end, she sends me a txt message that she felt like having "steaming hot sex" with me, which I was then obviously looking forward to. A few days later, I come over to her place for a nice evening and plans for sexy-time (what would anyone expect eh) and she goes all cold fish on me and I can't even really touch her innocently any more, like brush her arm a bit or put my arm around her shoulder. She tells me she can't continue like this and doesn't want to have sex and love disconnected anymore. And I'm like sure whatever, we both knew what this was so no biggie. But WTF. She wanted animal sex a few days before, and now she's all like "oh no, sex and love should go together, don't touch me!". Seriously, wtf. Women. Time for some Catullus (poem 70) Nulli se dicit mulier mea nubere malle quam mihi, non si se Iuppiter ipse petat dicit: sed mulier cupido quod dicit amanti, in vento et rapida scribere oportet aqua (My woman says that she prefers to marry no one rather than me, not even if Jupiter himself should seek her. She says: but what a woman says to her passionate lover is fitting to write on the wind and on fast-flowing water.) Gotta love the big C.

 Re: Command and Conquer 4
A lot of women can't hang with just sex. Most women actually have a sex=love thing. And those that are good with just sex, sometimes have guilt about that because society still says that we should be virgins while guys get to be whores.
Oh and broken up sex can be super hot. It is not forbidden because you have been there done that but at the same time you don't have the stress of being in the relationship filled with doubts. The release of that pressure can just make things hot, plus you put forth more effort because you don't want to be remembered for the bad but the really hot sex.

 Re: Command and Conquer 4
Lol. It's funny that Shiny, as a woman, doesn't really see my stories as bizarre and can explain them pretty well in 4-5 lines, whereas I am left completely dumb-founded as to these women's motivations. For me, it's pretty easy. If I think a woman is attractive and I think she respectable (ie not a skank) I'll have sex with her any time and regardless of our relationship status. If I'm in a relationship I don't (unless it's with my gf obviously). And I don't really care about performances as long as I have fun . It's the old joke with the "one on/off switch for me, 1584684 different inter-related switches for women".

 Re: Command and Conquer 4
Why are we talking about sex in the Command and Conquer thread? Is this a Freudian thread all of a sudden?

I dunno. Aren't you supposed to conquer first, then command?

 Re: Command and Conquer 4
Lol, I'm laughing so hard right now...
Back to CnC, I've reached about level 12. So far only played offensive. I get the feeling this game is going to end up one of two ways due to the fact that so far, if you're a higher level you're probably gonna win.
It's either gonna be lilke WoW - where the real game is the end game. Once you've hit max level and you're playing with other max levels, it becomes a fair fighting ground once again. However, this leads to the other possible outcome.
The other way I See it unfolding is that the game will stalemate. I've had a few fights so far where I've been raped, come back, raped them, and repeat. The problem lies in the lack of bases again, there aren't any structures I can take out to weaken my enemy and there are no structures I need to defend for my life.
This could all just be because of the domination game mode, though...
I mean, if there is a game mode where you can only produce while you have your MCV intact, and you and your 4 teams mates band together to FORM a base, then you'd have more of a CnC experience but with all of you controlling what one of you would have controlled in prior games.
The game is entertaining enough to keep me playing, but I think that's just my addiction to thinking the word "Ding" in my head every time I level!

 Re: Command and Conquer 4
Some excerpts: | | | | Quote: It must have looked like a great idea on paper. "The kids love Modern Warfare! Let's do that, but in an RTS! We can't fail." But they have failed. It's depressing and infuriating to look at your build and powers menus and see lots of little padlocks.
This isn't how RTS works - that choice and spread of units is key. It's just a grindy, exaggerated throwback to the bad old days of single-player RTS campaigns, when all sense of momentum and progress was artificially hung around denying you the better units until the later levels. It's like a long, unskippable tutorial.
(...)
The upside is that you'll definitely learn the units rather than make a dash for the big stuff every time. You'll really come to value the tier-1 infantry and especially the bouncy, healy/grabby/fighty Engineers. The downside is: give me the game I have paid for! These aren't just a few fun bonuses. They're the entire bloody tech tree.
It's even harder to accept because it also seems like a feeble attempt to justify the always-online requirement. Yep, just like Ubisoft's contempt-to-the-max DRM system, this will kick you out if your net connection drops for any reason - even in single-player.
(...)
On the one hand, it's important to look at this as its own game rather than through change-fearing spectacles. On the other, it's called Command & Conquer 4, and that bald bloke who keeps waving his arms and talking about ascension is all over it. It's still aimed at the fans. That it is such a giant step away from the mechanics C&C has clung onto for so long is bold and exciting in concept, but so absolute in practice that it's an insult to the faithful. | | | | |
Looks like another no-buy. Thanks for making the decision easy for me EA.

 Re: Command and Conquer 4
I was gonna post back here about the always online requirement as we received the stock today but it looks like you beat me to it!
That being said, I did enjoy the game. However, DRM makes it a no-go for me.

 Re: Command and Conquer 4
Yeah. I don't think the reviewer(s) thought it was a bad game, btw, just that the concept and design is completely fucked up. There is the obvious fact that it stands out like a sore thumb in the C&C saga, but more to the point they seem to lambast the fact that you spend 115132 hours getting raped by better (equipped) opponents before actually being able to enjoy the game yourself a little when all the upgrades clear. Basically they applied MP principles to SP and vice versa.
I'll buy it when it's 3 € on a steam christmas sale. And the DRM is gone.
