 Re: Funny Stuff II
It works as a comic, but I dunno - I think it points the finger more at customers than it should. If you were sold a car that can only drive on (charted) roads and just stops working/drives back to the road the minute you went off it, you'd sue the manufacturer for all sorts of customer rights breaches and try to find a way to work around it.
But if you buy a game with an insane and intrusive DRM that constantly sends info the the publisher AND stops working the minute your internet connection craps out (in singleplayer) you're apparently a crazy pirate if you think that it entitles you to cracking it/downloading it. Because seriously, why would anyone PAY for a game that is much harder to play when you have a legal copy than a cracked one? That doesn't make sense.
Erh, anyway, we're fucked anyway: if the game sells well Ubi will say the DRM did the trick and continue with it, if it doesn't they will blame piracy and increase DRM. Sigh.

 Re: Funny Stuff II
There is a ton of noise about it. But there was a ton of noise about Spore and Bioshock 1 and various other games as well, with little to no effect. So yea, you're probably right. I'm hoping joe moron gets bitten by the DRM hard enough they call tech support and, eventually, quit buying Ubi games altogether.

 Re: Funny Stuff II
Weren't the Spore and Bioshock DRM measures scaled back later as a result of the outrage? I think so. Not significantly, but still. When the initial sales frenzy was over Bioshock even lost almost all of its DRM I think. So there's SOME hope, but likely nothing is gonna change much for the better no. You know what...if they're gonna stall the AC2 release for PC 6 months after the console release and then hit us with this ridiculous DRM , I prefer they just don't bother with porting it to the PC anymore. Keep your console trash and nazi distrust to yourself Ubisoft, ktnxbai.

 Re: Funny Stuff II
I agree. Don't get me excited about a game only to make me wait so damned long (staring at Rockstar) and then make it worthless (against staring at Rockstar). Whatever. So many games to choose from anyway.

 Re: Funny Stuff II
Rofl love that one.
Looking at the picture in there about blu-ray reminds me of something that always bugged me and Mole, both when DVD came out and now with Blu-Ray:
"Look, here you are, you're watching a crappy video/dvd, this is what your picture COULD look like on dvd/blu-ray!"
... well excuse me, how did you show me what it could look like if my crappy video/dvd is incapable of it? Bastards.

That picture should be like tattoed to the face of those who come up with that commercial/warning crap.
