yea, maybe. It's between dwarven and human. I also kinda want a mage.
I finished, I think.. I beat the final boss and am hanging out in the castle atm. Ran out of time at lunch so it's saved probably right before the credits roll. I really did enjoy the game, though... I'm very happy with it. It could've sucked, or been cheesy (or cheesier perhaps), but it was good.

Hell yeah it was good. I don't understand how anyone who likes the genre can diss DA, to be honest. It may not be a revolution, but it's a masterpiece in what it's shooting for.
Congrats on beating the game. Try stepping outside later on and tell us what happened to your companions and world...can be very different based on your decisions. I had a friend playing the game at the same time (as a city elf) and his story was so very different from mine...

I restarted as a dwarven noble fighter. I'm a total bastard already. WWRD (what would rinox do)
*spoilers*
so, in my world
1. I wiped out the mages
2. rescued the templars
3. saved the elves by killing the main guy
4. saved redcliffe by letting the chick kill herself
5. did not kill the dragon
6. saved the alienage from slavery
7. let sten leave
8. stayed with leliana
9. let morrigan take my child to what she wanted
10.made allistair king
11.gave the dalish elves a homeland
...am I missing anything?

lol. Looking forward to see what you believe would be my choice of actions. As a Dwarven fighter from the ruling caste, I can imagine your options for being a jerk in the origin alone are..boundless.
SPOILERS
You forgot to mention what happened to Orzimmar
In my game...
1) I survived, Morrigan -who I romanced- carried my child and left
2) I put queen Anora on the throne
3) I spared Loghain and he joined me as a Grey Warden. Allistair left in disgust. I saved him from being executed tho (Allistair).
4) I asked Anora to provide the Dwarves with military aid
5) My sister became one of Bhelen's concubines, so naturally I chose him over Harrowmont in the Dwarven power struggle. He became king, my nephew is the prince. Orzimmar flourishes as Bhelen proves to be a reformer, loosening the caste restrictions and encouraging trade with the surfacers.
6) I was named Living Paragon and a House was created in my name
7) As a result of my demands from Anora, the Dwarves pushed back the Darkspawn until the Gates of Bowzammar and reclaimed several Thaigs
8) Slaughtered the mages and sides templars too
9) Saved kid by sacrificing mother in Redcliffe, then saved the Duke
10) Had the Elven leader lift the curse
11) saved the alienage but it relapsed into despair later when Anora slams down on a rebellion there
12) Killed Morrigan's mother
13) Leliana attended to care for the the Ashes of Andraste, which became a relic for pilgrims
14) I chose to side with Branka in the Anvil of the Void quest. Shale was in my party and wouldn't turn against her make, so I had to put her down.
All in all, I had a glorious ending...my brother in law is king of the dwarves, I'm a living Paragon and have my own house, Orzimmar flourishes like never before and I'm the Grey Warden hero. And I'm alive. I have a friend who sacrificed himself in the final fight (he'd killed Loghain, made Allistair king and wouldn't sleep with Morrigan as he was dating Leliana). Sucker!
Also, because I failed at that little sidequest in Orzimmar to install the church of Andraste there, there never was a church and no tensions...if you do install it, tensions rise between humans and dwarves and a crusade vs the city is considered.
Also, when the Queen asked me what I would do now...I answered "look for Morrigan". Oh and I barely had any NPC's left at the end:
Wynn: dead
Zhevran: dead
Shale: dead
Sten: alive
Dog: never had it
Allistair: left
Oghren: alive
Leliana: alive
Morrigan: left after final battle
Loghain: alive

Shale is the DLC guy, right? That reminds me...
I failed to get the church installed. I also sided against Branka and destroyed the anvil. I instilled Harrowmont as leader, who did a shitty job and died, resulting in just more assembly in-fighting.
Regarding my current play through, the origin story gives plenty of options for being a total bastard. I already got a craftsman killed (he insulted another house and I just told the guy to kill him or stfu). I also have two nobel-humpers waiting in my bedroom for some tag-team action. I failed to fight in the proving though... damnit. And I told my older brother (who's next in line for the throne) to fuck off. Bhelen is my other brother and seems fairly cool. I'll obviously be backing him for king... either that or myself, we'll see if I get the option.

Hah, sounds almost like me, but i had Alistair marry Anora and rule together. As for sacrifice, theres no escape from death, remember all grey wardens eventually go mad and either become darkspawn or die in the tunnels of Orzimmar.
You see, for a man to become truly a legend, his death is unavoidable and since going out in one final moment of glory and heroic battle looked more pleasing than a few years of spiralling madness its just best to get it over quick. The child saves you from imminent death but there is no avoiding the madness.
A man dies, a legend is born.

Yea, but one way you're dead, the other way you get several years of bedding all the women that admired your heroic victory.

Yeah, that's the way I figured it too. Death may be the inevitable end, but while you (and my friend) are 6 feet under I'm living the good life as a living legend among both humans and dwarves, in-law to the dwarven king, living paragon, leader of the Grey Wardens with my own House in Orzimmar and lands in Ferelden.
I'll take that and going mad in 20 years over dying now!

To live and die like a hero or to live like a lunatic and die like a rabid dog, that is the question. I dont think we can find the right answer here because it hides in our very essence.
But i can say this, even Jesus had to die for his cause . Whats a two decades compared to thousands of years.

The problem is that you never know who gets to be famous/worshipped and who doesn't...there were a lot of prophets, but Jesus won. I bet they all wanted to die for the cause and didn't really think they'd be forgotten easily.
And die like a rabid dog...I dunno, venturing in the Deep Roads for one last time to go out blazing sounds cool to me. I'll have the Death Knights along, who I made into a caste incidentally. I'm the best thing that ever happened to Orzimmar.

Yea, I'd totally round up a deep roads quest group and go out in a blaze of glory. Death knights to my back, maybe some humans and elves along to bathe in my blood. And what about the ashes? If you managed to secure those, perhaps that'll cure you of your insanity?
Anyway, I'm at Ostragar with my dwarf noble. Wasn't expecting my origin story to go the way it did, though I should've known. I'm curious to see how the Orzimmar quests go now. I'm about to do the ritual after completing all the quests in the jungle. I'm totally playing the asshole, demanding money for healing the dog, stabbing the prisoner in the cage to take the key to the mage's chest... good stuff. I've done several things that actually make me feel a bit bad.

Lol. The feeling goes away, trust me. At a certain point you'll be so desensitized that'll you gladly eat a puppy in front of its 10-yr old owner.
I'm being en equal dick with my Dalish Ranger. I'm on an all-out revenge mission, lashing out at each and everyone. Planning to sleep with all 3 characters, then hurt their feelings. Want to execute Allistair and leave Sten to rot. Fun fun!
I'm curious how your return to Orzimmar as a dwarven noble will go.

Yea, me too. Good point on Sten... not sure what I'm gonna do with him. I don't plan on using him.. or any other front line fighter for that matter. Maybe I'll just cap him and, if I happen to play a 3rd round, use him then.

Yea its not like you live a twenty years and then snap. The nightmares began after what, a few days after infection. So when the twenty years are up, theres nothing left of the person but a monster. And if you plan to make your stand in the tunnels, why not go out in the epic battle. I mean who cares next to which rock in what tunnel were you overrun but everyone will remember the epic dragon fight atop the keep in the capital.

I think they will remember the epic battle when I die 20 years later too, monster or not. And Duncan seemed fairly normal after some years of being infected...well up until the point he stabbed that knight.
