It's a relic from the old "US first, Europe second, rest of the world when we feel like it" release schedules from back in the day games were still only physically being sold.
They're probably adhering to the physical sales street date and therefore not letting the players who ordered it digitally unlock it. It's complete BS (and Europe is a bigger PC games market than the US anyway).

 | | | | Quote: I hoped that Borderlands would be satisfy, but I never expected it to grip in the way that it so readily does. It's hard to imagine that Gearbox had something like this knocking around, bubbling beneath their tactical shooters.
I chose the PC version, which I don't regret, because its comparatively stratospheric resomolutions do the game's art an incredible service. I did run aground on some port forwarding at first, which is apparently the cosmic tradeoff. After an hour or so of bullshit, which included a host of router perforations as well sequence of voodoo-like rituals culled from innumerable fora, I was finally able to enter a game with a friend. At this point, I'd played the game so much by myself that it was not a multiplayer game at all, so when he manifested in that inviolate space I almost didn't know how to react. I imagine it was something like the first two humans to ever look upon one another; there was suspicion, fear, and ultimately rage. I had to come to terms with the idea that I was not the only protagonist, which is - and let's be honest - suboptimal. | | | | |

Ok, so the verdict is in on Borderlands and it's mostly positive.

So, who's interested? If two more people would like to go in, I'll grab a four-pack and you all can reimburse me. If not, I'll just buy copies for Shiny and myself. It doesn't matter much to me either way, but you best speak up soon.

I've got Red Tide, DA and L4D2 still to buy, so on that basis I may have to skip on Borderlands for the foreseeable future.

Fair enough. We'll see if Ox can find a 4th that's interested... if not I'll just buy it for Shiny and I. That damned Belgian can fend for himself.

Mm, I'd very much be interested to partake in thy four-pack schemes senor Satis, but I can't think of a 4th man with Peltz and Derf out of the equation.
Any takers?
I have a feeling we'll be pretty busy with DA and L4D2 soon anyway.
Btw, broadcasting live from my new apartment for the first time. Spent 2 days moving and putting shit in place. Conclusion: I have a lot of games. And I still have about 30 games on steam...yeah....not healthy.

Well the singleplayer game is ok. Delivers on its promises of bazillion guns but i can see that it is meant for MP games since the world is quite empty when running solo.
Unfortunately i cant join any lobby at all for MP game. I mean fantastic idea to create a mp oriented game where one cant join games and again im not alone with this issue. Its kinda funny as just when i figured out how to beat the L4D staying connected issue another game comes up and bitchslaps me.
Ive seen some posts that say mp games work with hamachi.
Edit: caught this on a screenie, a corpse was stuck in mid air because i was taking the elevator down.

hehe, nice. Oh well, I don't think realism is very important in this particular game.

Im playing on Normal difficulty and the game still kicks my ass if im not careful. Eventhough i dont have major skills with sniper rifles or pistols i can still use them and gain proficiency with them that helps with damage, recoil and reload, which nice since i mostly use shotgun/sniper/assault and in that order.
Most of the quests would much more fun with a team because of the layout. There are some weird stuff as well, i shot a batlike flier which was flying high above me but somehow hit a skag which was infront of me, approx 150meters or so away from me. Luckily this was an isolated incident.
The game is faily bug free (Ive heard some problems with the Sirens skills but cant confirm it), Ive only crashed once and that happened while i alt tabed out of the game.

cool, thanks for the report. I still haven't purchased the game yet, but I may for this coming weekend. It seems harder and harder to find time to play games.

Welcome to my world
I'll probably HAVE to buy Dragon Age (it seems like it's becoming an epic RPG), but unfortunately that will consume all free gaming time i have for the next year or so ... . So no Borderlands, L4D2 ... .

Man, you really make me not want to get married and get children J JK I'm pretty sure they give back more than most games anyway (well children mostly ).
And goddamn, now I want to buy Borderlands. I feel like stomping through the wastelands and shooting shit. I guess I'll wait for a sale or something.
