I got Res Evil 4 on the Xbox for Shiny and I. Despised it. But I struggle with an FPS using analog sticks, so maybe it's the PC gamer in me. But yea, hated it. We're probably going to sell it to a game store and pick up a used Wii game or something.

There was a new video at Gametrailers but the narrative was funny to read.

I'm wondering how teams of people are playing a single player game. :?:

No idea. They're probably just "groups" being allowed to play the game on their own, but together. If you know what I mean. :)

my gaming mag came yesterday, with a review for DA:O. Verdict: 87%

Major remarks I remember:

- Story and party interaction are very, very good
- combat can be clunky and chaotic
- the game is hard. The reviewer had to reduce difficulty to 'easy' once or twice to get past some fights.
- lore and setting is impressive and detailed
- some quests are very creative, but others are of the 'kill X of X' type, even coming on a signboard with several ads on it. The reviewer felt he too often had to get his hands dirty to progress in the story (ie combat - story balance not ideal)

In short: incredibly detailed world with a lot of atmosphere, a great storyline, but a little much focus on fighting (but that can be a plus for other players, of course).

I was actually thinking of playing the game on the 'hard' setting so I'd have to use tactics more often...after reading the review I'm not so sure anymore. I'm probably a better gamer than the reviewer, but still. :P

So, like group masturbation?

Anyway, I'm fine with letting the reviews roll in for awhile. I'm in no hurry. Since it's single-player only, it'll be just as good a few months down the road. Besides, maybe those DLCs will be free by then.

In fact, it's almost mandatory to work your way through a battle in this way despite the inclusion of post-battle regenerative health and auto-resurrection, which simply takes the pain out of the fight

Awww :( As annoying as it is to have to rest, at least that takes some strategy (i.e. trying to find a safe place when 'you cannot rest while enemies are nearby' keeps coming up and praying you don't run into them) rather than the way you know it'll end up played (oh crap my health is low, let's just leave the pc running for a couple mins while I get a drink)

Still, an encouraging review :)

My main protagonist, a black man, lived as a sort of reverse 'The Jerk', where no one mentioned that his mother, father and brothers were all white. Embarrassing.

Brilliant :D

heh...glowing review from gamespot as well, 9.5.

http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/dragonage/review.html

And IGN gives it a 9.2
http://pc.ign.com/articles/104/1040976p1.html

So yea, it's pretty much cleaning up on reviews.

It's pwning all over the board

http://www.metacritic.com/games/platfor ... ageorigins

only 2 reviews under 90, both rating it at 80%. Yeah, if you didn't pre-order this game yet, now seems about the time.
