Post Wheel of Time book 13 on the horizon
Not that most of you will probably care, but Robert Jordan kinda died before he finished his Wheel of Time series... it got 12 books in. The estate or whatever contracted another writer, Brandon Sanderson, to finish the series. Apparently he was originally supposed to finish it up in one book, but that's since changed to 3 due to the ridiculous number of story threads left open.

Anyway, the next book is The Gathering Storm and is set to release October 27th. The first chapter is available online for free: http://www.tor.com/gatheringstorm/register.

I won't be reading it. But I'll be getting the book when it releases. At the rate I'm going, I should actually be done with Ulysses by then.

Another 3 books!? Meh, still have to wait to start reading the series again. I hate it when i can't finish a storyline and wait for a couple of years to do so. Can't even remember where i got the first time i read the series, think i was at book 5 or so when i realised it wasn't complete yet.

I was thinking his wife would finish the story, but he probably has told her how it should end and have her hire a professional writer, that would make more sense.

from what I've read the guy they hired is actually pretty good, so this should be ok (hopefully). Not a Frank Herbert's son butchering his legacy kinda thing.

Book 5, eh? It was still pretty interesting at that point. The latter 6 books got kinda repetitive and drawn out. However, this guy's whole purpose is to wrap the storyline up, so here's hoping it doesn't get drawn out another 12 books.

I have to admit I read the chapter offered and it took me damn near to the end of that chapter to remember to plots/characters. I have read a few similar books and it was a bit confusing since I had last read all of the existing books. I admit I do hate not having the whole story and having to wait for more.

It seems I read an awful lot of books that are series. And I am waiting for so many to be finished or at least the next book to come out. It just starts getting muddy after a while.
