Damn at the second video, 5 minutes wasted. All i kept thinking was "run forrest, run" and he ran but got pwned by something in the darkness. Gathering from the videos it seems that the game will have the same problem since the time of joint operations, it takes forever to get anywhere and then you are killed by something that just camped.

Extremely impressive vids. They even pique my interest and I'm not much of a realistic wargamer, so I'm gonna keep an eye on this (but I'm sure Derf will do that for me, haha). Let's hope they can pull everything off technically speaking, I mean, without 70% of the game being bugged to shit. :)

EDIT: found this

hahaha?

Oh and there's a vid with 1500 units too

1st vid is pretty funny.

Man im getting really hyped about this game. Just the movement of the screen as you run + bird sounds and breathing is something else.

Man, that map looks huge. Too bad it scrolls like crap on this work pc.

Btw, I did some research too on noises from the German front (the game was released on the German market already, in case you don't know). And well, it's not exactly an undivided success. According to this Dutch article, the German version was/is incredibly bugged out. The makers released a beta patch to help with the major problems and will be releasing another patch before the release of the English version of the game next week. So with a bit of luck our Jerry friends will have performed a good beta test for us. :)

Also, a German review giving the game good grades for its ambition, story, scope and whatnot but also saying the game is virtually unplayable when unpatched. Also, the original reviewer is a hottie. :o And she loves OF/ARMA. Derf, you on a plane to Germany yet? :P

Image

But in all seriousness, the pro and cons they gave translated (not gonna translate the entire damn review, so find a babelfish or something):

Pro

- a compelling storyline that really works
- challenging difficulty
- the try-out mode aka the "weapons chamber"
- decisions you make in the field will affect what happens around you
- the moral aspects of the game (in dealing with civilians)

Contra

- unplayable without the patch
- faulty AI and sometimes unbalanced
- some graphical bugs
- (N/A for the English version but) the package is misleading, co-op will only be included after the patch

So...yeah...bottom line: it's a great game but riddled with bugs. We can only hope they ironed the most blatant ones out of the English release.

i'd hit that. ;)

Cool summary. Not worried though, since the cons seem to be 100% related to bugs, which could get ironed out before the english version comes out.

Kinda feel sorry for the krauts.

I'll probably grab it after you guys have tested it a bit. I'm a bit burned out on buggy games (stupid Clear Sky still pisses me off).

I'm gonna wait what the reviews say too. It's not that I can't spare 50 bucks, but I gotta try and save up some decent amounts while I live here, or else there is no point of staying at the family house.

And according to this article, my framerate would, on average, be 40 FPS on my HD4870 512 MB. On low settings. On high settings, it'd be about 17 - lol.

so, is it demanding, graphically?

Perhaps medium will run for you at 25 fps? Might be good enough?

looks like another Crysis. Looks great, but noone can run it. Someone'll need two GTX295s in SLI to get decent framerates.
