Yea, I get what you say with regard to the per hour production. I am not surprised, I mean seriously you have no idea how bad both Satis and I are burnt out right now at work.

As for involving siblings, well I will use my brother, but we do NOT agree on my moms financial future at all. And while I am awful with spending cash, I am also in investment insurance, so I know my shizit so to speak. As for the step siblings, we are not using them, partially because we fear they will make a go at the estate, which I personally feel is wrong. Bah, family politics you know how that goes. Also unfortunately I am really the only one local. My brother lives in Florida, step sister in Michigan, and well the step brother was estranged from my step father for many years, but he is only in Austin.

Ox, you should use your time and come visit us :)

Haha, that's not such a bad idea actually ;) But I was thinking I could spend a year at my family's place in Malta without paying any rent, writing the Great Belgian Novel. :) We'll see. One thing's for sure, I'm gonna blow at work some time soon. The frustration has been building up and, well, let's just say I have some anger management problems if and when it hits. Fortunately I rarely ever get angry.

I hope you can get things sorted out Shiny, don't forget to play your job as a trump card if your mum is being difficult!

I should go to sleep and stop drinking beer, since I got to be at the voting office by 7.30 tomorrow, but whatever. I am beyond words pissed off that I have to waste a perfectly good Sunday morning on that shit. All the political parties are either exactly the same or extremist nutcases that either don't really have my seal of approval (far right) or are just way to insignificant to ever make it to parliament (far left). Not that I would vote for them if they were a force, but y'know. I'll probably just end up deciding in the voting booth or vote irregularly (ie isn't counted).

/me shrugs

You should come for 2 weeks or something. We'd have to see if your funny Belgian driver's license is valid over here and get you a car so you could entertain yourself while we're at work. It'd be fun. Besides, we have a shitload of liqour... you could probably stay drunk the whole time if you desired. We actually need to thin the quantity down a bit. It's a tad excessive. In exchange, you could cook for us an clean. Like a house servant, only Belgian.

Hahaha...clean, I could do, but cooking is the last thing you'd want to see from me. :P Seriously. My repertoire is baking cake, preparing tomato mozarella in the oven and cooking eggs. I also know how to make a crappy ratatouille and mashed potatoes. I'm officially the worst cook in history. So yeah...I'd just take you guys out for dinner a few times instead.

Btw, I don't have an actual driver's license...I never bothered with the practical exam. I do have a "temporary" one, but I doubt I could drive abroad with it. Either way, driving an automatic shift car is child's play. Silly Americans and their non-stick shift cars. ;) *wants an automatic if he ever gets a car*

lol, I don't actually know how to drive a stick (not really). Planning on learning so I can get a sports car. Driving an automatic sports car is like having a submarine with a screen door.

hehe, speaking of cars, we have friend who is a state trooper (ie state police) and he has his state car at his house where we went for a BBQ tonight. Needless to say I am a bit drunk and he put the lights and sirens on... hotness. I am pretty sure Satis got some video of me on the hood of the car lmao.

As for OX. You don't need to cook. I don't. That's satis' job. Plus I know some mean take out.

Just come. You'd have fun.

*too tired to comment on all the other stuff*

CRAP day at work, I was tired from a night out anyway, then had trouble with trains/buses so was late to work (luckily only by 20 mins to open, but oh well). Anyway basically West Brom takes fuck all money on a Sunday coz in the town we literally have 5 stores open and we're that close to Birmingham that anyone wanting to shop will go there. But of course our regional manager and contact store always bitch at us for taking no money/not hitting KPIs etc.

So today me and Greg did every sale 100% to textbook standard. Every customer was told about preowned, offered preowned, offered accessories, offered a points card, told about preorders etc. Everyone was approached. And we STILL didn't hit our KPIs. So fuck 'em, if they want to bitch at us. Our bloody contact store decided our target for the day should be £750 when I'd said £500 just because last week our retarded manager set it at £1000 (and we only took £300...) What is the point in a target that you can't possibly meet?

you should obviously try harder! And on days when you can't meet your goals, you should pay your friends to come in and buy crap, only to retrun it for a refund when a different manager is running the show.

Are these targets relative to 1 sales employee, or for the entire store? I always found store-wide targets unproductive. They dont give an idea of how much an individual should actually be selling.

I would personally be tempted to have a quick 1 on 1 with the manager and iron out any concerns you / he / she has. But that's me. I like to get concerns at work straightened out.

Anyway, regarding work... Given the hopelessness of the IT sector here in the UK, i'm considering going back to uni for a year starting september this year. There's an engineering / design degree im quite interested in.

They're both, on a morning we set the store wide targets (e.g. £1000) and then set individual targets (say we're using 10 hours for staff, it would be £100 hourly) plus we then have targets for loyalty/preorders/preowned/hardware/insurance etc. I've had words with both my manager, the contact store manager and also the regional. The trouble is that West Brom is basically a 'council' town, so no one wants to (or can afford to) spend much money, however targets are based on an 'average' town, so obviously most stores come close to them, stores in richer areas will tend to smash them and while we do ok the rest of the week, on a Sunday when nowhere else is open it is pointless.

It doesn't help we have a region full of stuck up pricks though, I hate 90% of the managers in our region and if you have any problems then 9/10 their answer will be "Well WE manage it", particularly from my contact store. Bearing in mind they are in Wolverhampton, big university town, while West Brom is effectively the same size and has as many big name shops (i.e. about 3) as my home town in Yorkshire...

The sell/refund thing has been thought of before Satis ;) Unfortunatley my friends are all broke too :P haha

Well, I happened to be out from work a couple days this week for a nasty tunny virus. Not fun, but when I went back on Thursday, I was called in to a "meeting". Well turns out they tried to write me up for something I did not do. I argued with them it was not something I had done... blah blah Basically I refused to sign the paper/ write up. If it had been something that was true it would be one thing. Blah. So, I will not be working there much longer, like giving my notice type thing. But, I may have already found another job that pays more. Yay. We will see. So, right now I think my job sucks monkey balls.

Kudos for not bending over for them Shiny, admire that in a person. It cost me a promotion and some money already at one time, but I don't regret it. You did the right thing! :)

Hope you can find a way to screw them over before stepping out the door, and good luck finding a new job! Keep us updated!
