Have you thought about a wireless repeater? How far are you from the wireless base station? If it's a bit of a distance, sticking a repeater in the middle might be all you need.
For instance:
http://www.google.com/products/catalog? ... ps-sellers
If it's less the distance and more that your walls are made out of chicken wire, then yea, going wired is probably your best bet. However, if you want it done right you'll need to pay a professional to install it. It would include mounting wall jacks and pulling cables through ceilings and walls, something I wouldn't recommend you do unless you've had some experience. Shiny won't even let me do it. I have no idea what that would cost you. On the upside, it really is the best option... it's secure and fast.
BTW, are you stilling running without security enabled on your wireless?

no, i have security on.
the distance is i dunno, maybe 10 meters, but the obstacles are 1 floor, 2 brick walls, including furniture and crap.
good shout regarding repeaters. never knew they existed for wireless. i'll have a look into it.

I just fired up the MoW editor, and oh my jesus h christ. The content is just ... im speechless. I swear the SP campaign must cover only 50% of the guns / vehicles / equipment in the game.
A few eye-watering items were:
-shotgun
-delise (french silenced carbine)
-m1 carbine
-sandbag kits!!!!
-a shit load of tanks and AT guns
i hope there is a nerd community somewhere, putting together missions. It's suuuuuch a huge game beneath the missions they bothered to release.

Thanks for the mission last night Peltz. My connection actually stood up!
The map was really cool actually. I hadn't played it before. Lots of new equipment and stuff. A tad easy I should say though. I think we were after all playing on easy, but I would have appreciated some enemy counter attacks.
I would have liked to setup a base for that purpose, but meh, fun nonetheless.
I came across a couple of browning .30 cal MG's from jeeps, which I stole for my 2 machine gunners in each team (3 man teams). The great thing about the .30 cal is that it has 200 round capacity
That Maxon quad-20mm AA or whatever was a scary piece of equipment. It had something like 3000 rounds. Kinda strange that I was able to tow it with 1 guy only Must have been Arnie.
Other than that, i'm not so anal about team setup anymore. I still have 3 man squads (1 MUST have an MG) but the other 2 can have whatever. Each team therefore has it's own capability, but still maintains a great deal of flexibility. E.g. This mission i had 2 teams:
team 1:
- .30 cal
- Enfield rifle + grenades + AT rifle
- Enfield rifle + grenades + spare AT rifle ammo
team 2:
- .30 cal
- MP40 SMG + shitload of grenades
- Enfield rifle + shitload of grenades
Team 1 natually becomes a more supporting type unit with a little AT capability. Wheras team 2 becomes naturally assault oriented.

I'm sure there is a community out there man, we just need to find them. Heck, even the Silent Hunter games (ultra-realistic sub sims, for chris's sake) have nerd fan bases bringing out huge mods. So my guess would be a big fat 'yes'. Now to fix that problem of mine and kick your asses online...

Hey Derfmeister, in case you were worried about a lack of modding feedback
http://www.digitalmindsoft.eu/forums/vi ... =12&t=3615
not what you're looking for, I know, but promising on a more general modding level.

Allright, seems I fixed my freezing issues by removing every trace of the screen drivers and doing a clean install of the latest version. At least Crysis ran flawlessly for hours yesterday, which is a nice improvement from locking up my rig on virtually every load. I assume Men of War is fixed too, since it was the exact same error...which means I'll join you two bitches for a MP game soon. Do I NEED to make a gamespy account though?

Nope, you need to install hamachi. Ask derf, he'll explain

Its a program that will let us play mp game like a lan game, with lot less lag than hosting one on the gamespy server.

yeah its a tiny program that essentially creates a mock LAN between people that connect to you using room name and password. Then its a simple matter of going into a new LAN MoW game and hey presto, you see whoever is on the network.
oh and there are lag problems in vanilla MP, but hamachi eliminates it.
Anyway, ive installed this rather user-unfriently campaign generator mod for single player and it seems ok. It adds a bunch of new maps. It even saves inventory and stolen equipment from mission to mission. One problem i noticed however is that the enemy AI doesnt make use of cover. Which kinda makes it easy. However there seems to be some clever "retreat" AI which you dont see in vanilla. You'd pummel an enemy squad down to 20% and they will fall back, making it tricky for you to wipe anyone out easy.

Oh, awesome. I'm guessing that'll circumvent a lot of issues with firewalls too? Not that I tend to have any, but I'm just wondering. I have some n44bish paranoid friends who'd like to get pwned by me but can't properly play online because they're behind a rigid firewall that they refuse to ever turn off.
lol @ editor AI. So they're basically playing our infamous recon style in L4D? Attacking mindlessly, not looking for cover, then running away when the heat gets on. Only to have Satis incap us. (to be fair, he never really does that - he just whittles away our health piece by piece. Hehehe.)

just an FYI, the dynamic campaign generator mod isn't worth getting.
It's too unsophisticated and has a few shortcomings.
