 Being a fatso is contagious
'fat gene' contagious...Brits are riddled with it, apparently

I remain unconvinced. I'm more inclined to think that fat people have unhealthier habits/lifestyle and are therefore more likely to be affected by this virus - not the other way around. But then I haven't any clue as to the extent of the investigation.

wtf? A virus that causes your 'fat cells to multiply'? Sounds like total BS. Where's it get the energy? From all that fast food you're eating? Bah. If your body lacks the energy to create fat cells, you won't get fat. Bah I say!
heh...anyway, it sure would be easy if it was a freakin' virus, but it sounds more like wishful thinking to me. I won't believe it until there's a pill you can take.

It aint frigging contagious, unless you count "nah I can't be bothered going out, let's stay in and get a take away" as 'contagious'. I do believe that you're inclined to be thinner or fatter based on your genes, and that we all have a 'natural' weight due to this... but also that you can overcome that in 99% of cases anyway to be whatever weight you like.
I can also believe that a virus may have a symptom that LOOKS like you're putting on weight. Or affect your metabolism etc. It's just a damn excuse for those fat lazy people to not doing anything about it (and cost the NHS money which could be used for people who actually need it without causing their health problems. But don't get me started on that ) Ah who knows. I think scientists are just bored

hehe...I think it's scientists all fighting for that fat grant money. Nothing like some free government grants to fund your pizza and hooker habit.

Craziest shit gets funded. Not in times like these, of course. But in war or times of excess, you can research just about anything given a half-assed explanation.

Btw just on the whole fat subject, I do love the fact that the japanese version of wii fit just says "You're fat" if you're above a certain BMI, but they had to change it to say 'overweight' for the western countries because we apparently got upset over it saying fat...

We still haven't gotten Wii Fit. It's like impossible to find. My Wii age in Wii sports is like 32 or something, though. It started off at like 48. Shiny started off hilariously high.

Oh it's the same in all of those damned things. The number of times in Brain Training that my brain has been 20 one day and 80 the next... Feels back on my off days on Wii Fit when I hit upwards of 50 though

This reminds me of a post by Tim Schafer on his company's homepage, starring his newborn:
