I liked Sean Connery as Bond. He was the stereotypical suave gentleman who happens to be able to kill you. Then again, I was a kid when I was watching those movies. I think we all know kids are a lot more accepting of faults in things than adults.

Oh yeah...I was watchign Goldfinger a few months ago on TV, and there was this scene where he had Bond's stooge/girlfriend killed by coating her entirely in gold. :? To prevent her skin from breathing and all.

Now, is it me...or are there a lot more easier ways to kill some random girl, not to mention cheaper or less conspicious? :P

Gotta love it though.

What bothered me in Casino Royal (among other things) was how they played poker. If you know a thing or 2 about poker, it's sometimes hilarious.

What bothered me was that they were playing poker for ages, then finished the rest of the movie in about half an hour. The pace was the film's biggest flaw. And I really don't care about poker.

Yeah i don't know why there was so much poker in it. In earlier Bonds, he played some (card)games against villains, but there it took like 5 minutes for him to win a million so to speak.

So i completely agree when you say it took the pace out of the movie.

Yea, Casino Royale actually bored me. For the same reason... watching him play poker is boring as hell. The original Casino Royale was even more boring.

This more recent one was actually a remake of the old Casino Royale Bond movie, probably one of the worst Bond movies of all time.

What a crap. You hear that from a passionate MP player.

Hyper-stylized like Sin City, with dangerous dames and good music. I'm digging it.

Yea, in my opinion it's another Sin City, though they intelligently stayed away from calling it Sin City Redux or something. Not that I had a problem with Sin City, I thought it was a good movie.

We saw Resident Evil: Degeneration. Don't waste your time, it was pretty horrible.

So we watched Pineapple Express yesterday. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0910936/ It was borderline funny... unfortunately it was on the wrong side of the border most of the time. So yea, not so great.

Also watched Zack an Miri Make a Porno. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1007028/ Yea, that was actually worse. Coincidentally, the lead actor for both those movies is the same guy. The fact it's about making porn is kinda cool, but otherwise the movie was pretty lame.

The guy looks like a shaggy fat guy from the IMDB pics :)

Saw Children of Men for the first time this weekend. WHAT a movie. Probably the best last half hour of film I've seen in a long time...well, almost, because the actual ending is kinda lame. But everything leading up to that was eerie, haunting and spectacular at the same time.

If there is a realistic vision of a distopian near future, it's the UK of Children of Men. :o

Yea, we watched that movie when it first came out. Pretty damn good. And dark and depressing as hell. But hey, dark and depressing describes England most of the time, right?

Strange it should be mentioned. I didn't like that one from some reason, but some music was so damn cool that I grabbed it off the movie.

We watched a few movies recently, thought I'd throw up a post about them.

Afro Samurai. This one's been discussed previously. From a pure movie perspective, it's not all that great. However, if you like anime, it compares very favorably to any anime out there. It's bloody, it's violent, it has sex, but it also has pretty decent voice acting (for the most part) and an interesting story. So, if you don't like anime, avoid, but if you do, you need to check it out.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. This movie's about Brad Pitt being born an old man and aging backwards. This is a pretty good movie, but quite sad. Worth watching once.

Burn After Reading. Another Brad Pitt movie. I figured it was a comedy, and it kinda is, but it's pretty dark. Good cast, too, like John Malkovich and George Clooney. I recommend anyone watch it.

So, 3 movies, I recommend all of them (unless you don't like anime).

I'm definitely gonna see the latter two, not sure about afro samurai. I like anime, but more of the SF/fairy tale kind. Miyazaki and shit. Not sure if I'd like afro samurai.

I was at the premiere (won tickets) for Frost/Nixon yesterday. Solid movie. Not without flaws, but Langella's performance as Nixon is absolutely stunning. He delivers a monologue or two that pretty much blows you off your feet.

What bothered me was the audience's reaction to some scenes where Nixon makes a remark/'joke'. They didn't quite seem to grasp the tragedy of it all, instead opting for the 'hah funny!' laugh.

I recommend it, but I guess it's not everybody's movie. A lot of monologue, close-ups, still shots...but what it does it does very well. :)
