Post Black Mesa
Talk about an ambitious project: unsatisfied by the H-L: Source released by Valve itself, a group of programmers and modders decided to make their own Source adaption of the original H-L. With new AI routines, voice acting, etc.

Check it out:

Make sure you take a look at the trailer they just put online. Looks sweet. :)

Black Mesa (formerly Black Mesa: Source) is a Half-Life 2 total conversion remaking VALVe Software's award-winning PC game, Half-Life. Utilizing the Source engine, Black Mesa will reintroduce the player as Doctor Gordon Freeman, along with the original cast of memorable characters and environments seen in Half-Life. Black Mesa was built and founded on the basis that Half-Life: Source was inadequate as the Source engine port of Half-Life, regardless of the intentions of VALVe Software. As such, Black Mesa was founded to fully reconstruct the Half-Life universe utilizing Source to its fullest potential in terms of art detail, level sizes and code features. This total conversion will not require Half-Life: Source to play - only a copy of any Source Engine game installed on Steam.

I read about that... pretty cool. If/when it gets released I'll play it. Though I'll need one of you Half life gurus to play it and chime in on the accuracy. If it's fan made, I'm willing to bet it's probably pretty close to the source material.

Sure, I'll play it anyway. HL1 is pretty different from HL2...there's the headcrabs and headcrab zombies, but other than that there barely are any similar enemies in the two games. Should make for a non-deja-vu feeling. :)

I am most anxious about how they will tackle the final part of the game. (I won't spoil it for you, but the other HL people will know what I mean)

Happy to see the "plant tentacle" thing in the game...that was a really cool part of HL1.

This reminds me I still didn't find a copy of HL2 to purchase. Some sellers even tried to sell me the Episode Two (not the orange box) when I asked for it.

Lately I am making efforts to give life to my (already third) 3d engine. Otherwise now I would probably install HL1 and post some cool videos. :)

Maybe get a credit card and get it over steam? or ask someone who owns a credit card to buy it for you? That's probably the easiest way if it's not being physically being sold anywhere near you. Shouldn't be more than 15 € now.

Aw shit not again... just tell me you are not doing that on purpose. :D

I guess I should bookmark it:

I forgot to mention that in Bulgaria I really didn't even try for the non-EU foreigners are being fucked more than gypsies. :) I have only one life and I will damn gladly spend it without HL2 if the only way to get it is going through all shitty-pissed-post-communism-Bulgarian bureaucracy. I was already pestering people around. It seems like only stuffy businessmen and -women have that possibility here either.

I have damn 15€. I also have 25€, which would be the cost in the shops. Still, there's no HL2 to buy. :)

I have spoken.
