Lame =(

My expectations of comic books/games turned movie was soaring following the excellent Dark Knight. Guess it's back at my standard pov now (ie adaptions are per definition crap).

Saw 'journey to the center of the earth' yesterday...as a movie, rather forgettable (if somewhat enjoyable) but the 3D element was really nifty. Took my eyes some adjusting at first, but once you're used to the view it's really cool and quite a lot of fun. :)

We only really picked the movie because we felt like going to the movies but we already saw a few that were running and all the other movies were either

-crap
-romantic dramas (cfr. crap)
-rom-com's (cfr. crap)
-drama's

and you don't go watch a movie drama style Changeling together with a male friend. I'd rather see some hawt 3D special effects with dinosaurs and chases.

well, we saw Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull thing. As reported elsewhere, it was pretty bad. Worth watching for a few bucks if you have a couple hours you need to kill.

The refrigerator surviving a nuclear blast and grenades filled with gunpowder was enough to turn me off of the movie in the first 15 minutes or so. Having looked it up, it looks like US pineapple grenades were filled with smokeless gunpowder, but I don't see how that would be magnetically attractive.

I think it's an animated movie. That alone turned me off. I haven't heard any reviews, though.

I've watched Quantum of Solace, which sucked even more than the previous parts of James Bond. It is like one people started writing the story and then came another people and continued without reading the previously written part.

Agreed, I watched it as well and it was pretty bad. When they finally revealed the evil guy's plot I was like, wtf? Is that all? That's pretty lame.

So, yea, pretty lame. And no Q gadgets. C'mon, that was the coolest part of Bond. To be fair though, most Bond movies were pretty light on the reality. Watch Moonraker if you want to see a Bond movie with absolutely no basis in reality.

Yeah, Q's gadgets were really a policy of JB.

If I except few parts I didn't watch, "The Spy Who Loved Me" remained in my memory by the most complete assortment of gadgets. :) Especially impressive was the car. (I don't remember Bond having a car that can drive on the road, fly and dive underwater at the same time). I could only compare it to chameleon car in "Die Another Day".

I kinda liked Quantum of Solace. If you see it as a sequel to Casino Royale and not a whole Bond movie, you understand it's lack of expanded story.
Q will be back, but they're doing a reboot. Bond totally spiralled out of control in Die Another Day, that car was just stupid. They're now slowly making Bond 007 and reintroducing those other features that we all know, but I'm patient. I also like the fact that Craig is a tough and hard Bond, more like Timothy Dalton (who was one of my favourite JBs), instead of the constantly smiling Roger Moore.

I like Sean Connery best as Bond...but hey.

Not that Pierce Brosnan was such a godsend, but I feel the franchise is going a bit too much down the Bourne path with the last two movies. Not enough silliness...everything is so goddamned serious. :(

I want more friggin' sharks with friggin' laserbeams attached to their friggin' heads. Or even mutated seabass, for all I care. Bring back Goldfinger and co..retarded as they were, they were fun in a campy sort of way. This movie even has Bond having love sorrow, dude, not cool.

1. Sean Connery?

Let me repeat this one (the whole series are worth seeing actually):

Fans never have it enough. I suggest you `Ox to watch the beginning of:

It really illustrates the "extra violence" thing. :)

2. Yeah, I didn't watch Casino Royale.

I liked Sean Connery as Bond. He was the stereotypical suave gentleman who happens to be able to kill you. Then again, I was a kid when I was watching those movies. I think we all know kids are a lot more accepting of faults in things than adults.

Last night I rewatched The Last Unicorn (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084237/). I'd loved it as a kid. As an adult it wasn't so great. And I must've shut out all the singing or something when I was younger. I didn't remember that being in there.

Alright, I recommend "Casino Royale" strongly.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0381061/

Don't forget to check the duration: 144 min.

Especially I have to mention that the intro music is a quality work, apart from the movie.

Still, it all didn't make up my opinion on "Quantum of Solace". Some things are explained but the impressions of incompleteness and impropriety weren't washed away. Being successor of such a work just makes it look even more lame, although some may fall into trap of liking it just because of its predecessor however.

The best James Bond appearance? Timothy Dalton. The worst one... well probably Daniel Craig.

What bothered me in Casino Royal (among other things) was how they played poker. If you know a thing or 2 about poker, it's sometimes hilarious.

Haven't seen Quantum yet.
