Xbox 360 code Fallout 3 leaked:
http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/f ... re-release
On the bright side (for Bethesda): it's only the Xbox version, which, no doubt, is the crappier of the two.

I think it's been proven pretty conclusively that leaked games don't really affect actual game sales. Good games have been leaked and still make a killing because people are willing to support the publisher.
And it being the xbox version, you'd have to have a modded xbox just to play it.

Cool. I'd preorder more if there weren't so many stories of people that preorder getting shafted and getting the game days (sometimes weeks) after everyone else bought theirs in stores.
If I were a published, preorders would be guaranteed to get the game at least a day prior to general release. Give a reason for preordering again.
Anyway, only a few more days until FC2.

I preordered my Fallout 3 copy a month ago, because I went for the CE and wanted to be sure it would be in stock when I got it. I'm such a nerd. But on the whole preordering is lame yeah.
I'm buying FC2 Friday afternoon too. Should make a good test of the new rig...the sad thing is, I don't have a game that could reasonably test its mettle at home. Having not owned a decent gaming machine for a year or so i didn't buy the latest of the latest in games either, as you can imagine. I have Oblivion and Dark Messiah which I can give a spin, but they're not likely to put the pinch on it.
No worries though, I'll entertain you with a 3dmark score first.

Grab the Oblivion graphics mods from my site, especially the super-massive graphics overhaul (if you can afford hte bandwidth). Then turn that sucker up to whatever your native resolution is and you should be able to put at least some heat on that machine.

Can't afford the bandwidth, seeing as I downloaded a crapload earlier this month and now again for the basic downloads etc. But thanks for the offer. My native resolution is 1680×1050 so I'll have to wait 2 more days for FC2 to crank that up, doesn't seem worth it to install Oblivion in the meantime and then not play it for months just to test the machine's mettle.
I installed and played some Dark Messiah for a test run, the only fairly high-end game I owned that I didn't play yet. It didn't go up to 1680x1050 but I cranked up all AA, AF, HDR and prettiness to max detail and the machine didn't even sweat it. Yay. Can't wait to test it on some serious shit...maybe I'll even pick up a budget game like Supreme Commandor or Bioshock. On verra.

You never played Bioshock? Man, I forget how many truly great games you totally missed out on. Supreme Commander isn't bad... I picked it and its expansion up... it was enjoyable. I get a weird kick out of base building occasionally... I really enjoy building an impenetrable wall of death, then blowing the enemy to hell. Supreme Commander is great for that.. great fortifications and the super-weapons are truly powerful as hell.
How about medieval 2? It's an older game but it still chokes up my box on max graphics. Then again, Supreme Commander does too.

Heh...I'm gonna start a thread with a list of games I still need to play, I think. Look for it tonight or tomorrow. I actually own medieval 2, but not the expansion. It's the last high-end game I bought IIRC

My local gaming mag did a review on Fallout 3, and it's very positive. They gave it 90% (that's pretty high in their book) and the following conclusive comments.
Positive: character creation, VATS (the targetting sysem), freedom of actions, good transition from the original Fallout 'feel'
Negative: voice acting, high system reqs
Gameplay: 54/60
Graphics: 19/20
Sound: 17/20
Lookin' good I'll be picking up my copy on Thursday.

lol... high system requirements shouldn't be a negative unless it's just because of poor optimization, in my opinion.
Then again, I can run FC2 on very high (it kinda lags on ultra-high) and my system is definitely not state of the art.
