new Intel SSD has phenomenal performance
For anyone living with their heads in the sand, solid state drives are looking to be the wave of the future. They're probably going to be replacing regular hard drives eventually. No moving parts, extremely low seek times, extremely good read performance and decent write performance, but expensive and small in capacity.
Intel just released an SSD whose read performance is absolutely astounding. Sustained read rates around 225MB/sec... that's incredibly fast. In real world tests it can be twice as fast or more as other SSDs. It's also about twice as expensive.

This bodes well, though. I want to see capacities go up, performance go up even more, and prices go way down. One of these may be mine by Christmas if the current trends continue.
