oh, awesome. Looks like this Fall is going to rock. Starting mid-September, at least.

Oh yeah...I'll be getting a new rig by the end of september, if everything goes right. That seems about the right time to do so.
Anyway, another article here
http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/fallout-3/900623p1.html
from a play demo at the Leipzig Games Convention this weekend. Ignore the first page, second page has some fun things to read. Dog meat? Awesome!
P.S. moved this to RPG forum. Where it belongs.

Not that you need to be excited but...am I seriously the only person here who Bethesda has watering at the mouth with these vids? Cause for anyone who's played F1 and 2, this is the shizzle.
Ok, so they give away a lot of the Megaton stuff...but they have to show something. With Oblivion we didn't get any info for ages, just a few "great view" clips.

heh....the video was cool. And would totally have blown up Megaton. But now I'm not sure I can, seeing as I know what happens. Vids look good, though...and, strangely enough, the graphics remind me a lot of Oblivion. I mean, I know it's the same engine and all, it just seems odd.

I'm guessing blowing up the place has some serious consequence for your gameplay/storyline (not just the karma). I can't imagine they'd allow you to 'cut short' a potential series of quests so easily if they don't offer some alternative consequence.
The video only tells you that Tenpenny is behind the request to blow the bomb, but doesn't say why or how. His motive is probably more than just pretty fireworks. I hope.
How about the convo with the girl? She referred to 'Nova', probably a brother owner or prostitute. Which is cool. I don't need to have sex in the game, but prostitution is a definite feature of any post-apocalyptic world I know (and in the original Fallout series spirit, too). So yay for immersion.
I'm thinking I'm gonna make a non-combat oriented character at first. Good with science, intelligent, good at hacking. But then I did LOVE the power fist in the clips. We'll see. Megaton is going sky-high, though!

I'll be a murdering character the first time through. No doubt. I get tired of running around getting my ass kicked

I quite like the idea of being a survivor/ass-kicker, but it depends on the mechanics of the game i suppose.

i'm thinking the game will lend itself to that Derf, with the big open wastes. From what I make up/read, settlements will be few and far between in Fallout. Mostly wide plains and old ruins inhabited by raiders and feral ghouls.
*me watches Satis pick the "there's a new sherrif in town. let's dance, asshole." dialogue choice in the conversation with the Megaton sherrif*

heh...tempting. I might try it (after making a save). That'd be a blast.

After some fantasizing (boredom) I decided that my first character will be, among other things, a serious dopehead. Which was my idea for Oblivion, before I found out that they did a crappy job with drugs in that one.
But so, my character will swallow down buffout, jet, psycho and mentats like there's no tomorrow. And maybe some radiation medicine just for the heck of it.
Other than that, I'm still on the fence. Probably some bartering/stealing skills to keep my buzz going, because the withdrawal symptoms in F1 and 2 were a total bitch if you got seriously hooked.
EDIT: from the Fallout forums, on the dog NPC ("Dogmeat")

Hehehe...I think we all have nightmares of moronic AI allies running in the way in Oblivion.
"Hey what are you doing, I'm on your side!"
Argh!

Bethesda's marketing campaign has gone into a higher gear. They launched http://www.prepareforthefuture.com/
In short, a flash website with a series of Fallout-style fifties clips which all highlight some aspect of the game. All in all not very exciting, but the site is a gem of flash ingenuity. You can click in the movie and some minor interactive games/360 views etc.
They better don't wait too long with releasing this game anymore.

Well, the release date was announced as October 28th, so, no, not too much longer.
