Post Need for Speed: Carbon vs ProStreet
If you're looking for fun, take Carbon. If you want sole race, let me introduce you to the ProStreet.

Huh, I thought it will be a longer post.

Im still playing forza 2, damn there seems to be no end to this game, or i just suck. I was thinking of picking up one of the NFS games but i dont really play that much on the console, ME was an exception to this ofcourse.

One more. Whoever plans on playing NFS: Underground 2 and isn't huge fan (so that s/he must play all parts ultimately) can peacefully skip it and replace the thing with NFS: Carbon.

I played the original NFS : underground and it wasn't all that great. Decent for a bit, then just drug down into boredom. Still, if carbon is decent I may check it out.

The NFS series is exemplary of how consoles fail to interest me. Sure, the racing is fun, and sure, pimping out your car with ridiculously over the top gadgets is cool if you can show it off to your friends.

But it gets old. There is no emotional involvement, no real sense of achievement. It's basically one big grinding game. What do I care if I can drift for 30 minutes straight? You see this in almost every console game; even the ones with a lot of freedom like GTA. Superb game, but what's with all the 'sidequest' grinding?

Getting money, buying clothes, houses, pumping up your body in the gym (wtf?), owning 110201301 cars in 54544 garages....yeah. No thanks. I was more than happy when I had the big hillside mansion in San Andreas, a heli and a few cool cars. No need to become a real estate mogul and/or bodybuilder with 7 'hoes' all over town needing love. If I wanted to do those things, I'd get me a real estate sim/bodybuilding sim/The Sims. At least they try to make those things more interesting than simply mashing buttons.

haha, I enjoy those side games. But what makes it acceptable for GTA is they're optional. You don't have to work out, or pick up hoes.

The workout and eating system was broken anyway. You didn't have to eat. And if you wanted to, you could go crazy. I ate like 20 whole pizzas once to see what would happen. I ended up going from buff to totally fat and feeling like I was gonna have a heart attack.

lol. What did your hoes say when their buff gangsta ganglord big daddy became morbidly obese in 20 minutes?

And maybe I'm just a lousy console gamer with a lack of patience. It's not that I think it's a shame of the time you spend on it; god knows I waste a lot more time on sillier things every day.

I don't play it on the console. PC only. Still waiting for the latest one to even be announced on PC.

I don't get it, Ox. You played Baldur's Gate ffs. How can you lack patience?

Heh, true...in Baldur's Gate everything fit in with the storyline and contributed to the 'legacy' of your character. Even if a side quest is completely lame, you could still get cash/XP/lootz from it. But what did you gain from buffing up in the gym? A slightly better stamina and ability to take/dish out melee blows, and it wasn't even that big an advantage. It's just so...pointless to spend 5 minutes mashing buttons in the gym every 30 minutes. You know?

Maybe lack of patience isn't the right word anyway. :) I'm probably just a hater. Of consoles and grinding. ;)

Hahaha...granted, I did some grinding there. :P Mostly in SF and then ettins. But, seeing as I was a lot poorer than you and Shiny or Pev, I'm guessing I did less grinding than you guys. Or maybe I just sucked at it. ;)

But seriously, I think my grinding days are over. Until the next fad arrives...
