 Portal
I finished portal today (and no, I didn't finish it in one day. :p). Pretty good stuff. Initially I thought it was just a puzzle game...and initially a freakin' easy one. But it got decently difficult. And then the game changed tones. I must say it's probably the best ending credits ever.
So anyway, enjoyable. Recommended to anyone that hasn't played it yet.

I still have it in the orange box package, still sealed since chirstmas. Stupid awesome call of duty. lol.
I really want to play it though, as I enjoyed that narbacular drop that it was based on.

Even without having played Portal (the shame!), this clip rocks the casbah. Midi ftw!

oh man, you totally need to play Portal. It's not extremely graphically intensive so your rocking box of graphical power should be able to support it.

oh, awesome. I tried using the one I posted as a background but it's too busy and distracting.

Gah now I want to play Portal even more. I know my laptop could run it just fine, but it's the financial side that's irking me. I can buy it seperately for a 'mere' 20 bucks, but that would be somewhat retarded when I can buy the entire Orange Box for 40 bucks. HOWEVER, I can't play Episode 2 with guns blazing on my laptop so I'd have to wait to play it...and 40 bucks is above the cut-off point for expenses that I can consciously approve of. Of myself.
If it wasn't so hot, I'd drink a few beers to make my thinking less...tangled.

Those 40 bucks, is that through Steam? (just checked, yes it is probably)Because with the low dollar, you can't go wrong there.
Buy orange box and start playing TF2, i'm really enjoying that, it has grinding too now if you want.

"it has grinding too now..."? What does that mean? The only definition of grinding I know in relation to gaming has to do with MMOs and doing repetitive killing/questing to level up. There aren't level in TF2, are there?

There has been a new update which introduced new achievements for the medic (first class that gets this, others will follow in time). When you reach a certain number of these achievements, you can get new weapons.
12 -> new needlegun
25 or so -> new medigun that does crits instead of invulnerability
all of them -> ubersaw .. it fills your ubermeter when you hit someone
So if you desperately want them, you can start 'grinding' those achievements, it was bad the first week when everybody started playing medic (what were they thinking, releasing it for only 1 class).
But the achievements aren't a bad thing, it's cool you see yourself getting closer to a goal (like healing 1 million points). And most of them you'll get when you're playing, just some are retarted so i doubt i'll ever get to the ubersaw.

oh jeez, so it is grinding. Bah. Grinding should never be a part of a freakin' FPS. Then again, I guess battlefield 2 did it also. Bleh.
On a positive note, it goes give you something to shoot for. It also raises the bar to new players. What the point in running around with a 9mm when everyone that's been playing the game for 6 months has an uzi with teflon coated bullets?

They also gave a free weekend after the update, that and these new achievements are probably to bring fresh blood to the game. And the grinding isn't so bad, you hardly ever see people actually trying to get a certain achievement now. The saw-rushing idiotic medics all died i guess.
Most times when i play there aren't enough medics anyway, since the update you see some people play it more often. But i end up being a medic quite often when there's lack of them. Fortunately i started to like playing a medic. Now to become a good medic, there's a challenge

I enjoy playing medic. But truthfully I doubt I'll ever play TF2. 6 more days until Conan's release, and I still need to play Assassin' Creed. :p
