Wow, that was pretty impressive. That thing just tore itself into pieces. :-D I wonder how much power it was generating when it blew.

Probably enough to power a starship, or none at all because everything inside was busted before the wind finally tore it down.

With speeds like that, I think all the wires inside melted pretty quickly. Normally the blades are locked when there's too much wind, but they also break down quite often (though normally in a less spectacular way). It's not the greatest way of creating energy, no matter what environmentalists often say. If you look at the entire lifecycle, I wouldn't be surprised to see them worse for the environment than recent coal-powered solutions.

Meh... just put a speed limiter in. If the blades stood in their place, the thing would not break that easily. The problem was: one blade had to fall out first. When that happened, the other two caused moment strong enough to start breaking the windmill before they fell out too.

Honestly I'm surprised the rotation speed wasn't limited although you don't have to be genius to predict this could cost people's lives, no matter how rarely it happens.

wind power definitely isn't all it's cracked up to be. I think using tidal power and heat differentials in seawater is a lot more promising. Or solar power if they ever get the efficiency high enough.

Solar energy can be pretty efficient, but not by using solar cells. I think focussing sunlight with mirrors to boil water is a better candidate (solar thermal collector) You'll need a desert for them though.

Solar cells need to cover a really HUGE surface to be worth it. Yet, the Sun is emitting an immense amount of energy and the million dollar question is how to collect it. Tesla had other ideas on how to use earth itself and its orbit to achieve inexhaustible source of electrical energy. Don't ask me about it, papers were held by FBI and CIA in last few decades.

So Africa would be a nice place to start? I wonder what kind of education level is required for maintaining that kind of a plant.

How did you decide to take this domain (clankiller.com) name btw, Sat?

By the way, ~Nerd King~ this time:

For the first two I agree. History/literature is kinda missed (too, too high). And I awkward? This is awkward:
