Die with style!

Luckily you'll have plenty of methods for taking down foes. The first is proximity mines, which are handy in that you can set them wherever you like (on the floor, wall, or ceiling). When an enemy gets too close, boom goes the proximity grenade. The most basic use of the grenade is to set one on the floor and let it do its work. With a little creativity, however, the proximity can be much more interesting. You can attach it to a barrel, for example, then use your telekinesis to pick up the armed barrel and toss it at an opponent, effectively creating a superbomb. You can also use the proximity mine in conjunction with other accessories like the cyclone traps, which create miniature cyclones on the floor; when an enemy steps on it, he or she will be tossed to the ceiling, where your planted mines can be waiting for them to turn them into mincemeat.

A electrified trip wire crossed between two walls can electrocute baddies if they trip it, and you can use an enrage item that, when tossed at an enemy, will anger them to the point that they will attack the first thing that gets in their way, be it friend of foe. This tactic worked particularly well in the Lazarus level we saw demoed, when the main player was joined by the lumbering, hulking Big Daddy and his diminutive sidekick, the creepy Little Sister. Tossing an enrage item at Big Daddy caused him to toss grenades in every direction, blowing up any bad guys that happened to be in the wrong position at the wrong time.

I enjoyed the demo on 360.

Well presented, great atmosphere but I'm worried that it's too slow - though it was only a demo and I'm pretty certain that it will speed up with a few hours game play :D

I bought the game yesterday. Had to reinstall Windows to get it to intall (grumbles about GRAW2's jackups) but I've been playing it most of today. PRetty good game...nice graphics, very interesting gameplay mechanics. And the retro-50s feel is awesome.

I got it on yesterday too (as it's after midnight... er... I got it on the 24th!)

Really enjoying it.

A bit of a shame about there being no multiplayer, but still stunning visuals and a rather large amount to be doing given that it's an FPS - inventing, hacking (pipe mania!) taking photos etc, all adds to the feel.

It kinda sucks that you're pretty much invincible though.

yea....I'd rather you just die and have to reload instead of just popping back up in the tubes. I only recently got to the came... that certainly adds a different perspective to it.

So... are you harvesting or liberating? I'm liberating, I'm sad to say. :)

Liberating this time through. Doing it on Hard mode too.

I'm not great with names and such - but I don't recognise 'came' (assuming it's a place?)

I've just dealt with "cohens masterpeice".

I then decided to frag the crap out of him using hypnotize big daddy. Bahahaha. Awesome.

Nothing there is really a spoiler - so don't worry people who've read that and though it was!

What do you think to the hacking and such?

I have to say i'm VERY glad to see that you can research in to it and make it so you can auto-hack (not using a tool/buying out) because it gets a bid tedious. I have every machine I can - especially the healing units.

I'd say there more usefull than the medkits. I constantly walk around with 9 ready to use because there really is no point. Just kill what you can, if you die, run back and finish the fight. You're never really that far away from anywhere so it's nothing big if you do die.

Sometimes it's annoying though, because if you die you can get teleported forward through the level. Confused me a few times outside that smelly old geesers fish farm.

Anyway, still enjoying it, though I've only found 1 weap upgrade so far which is a bit poo!

I'm currently in the gardens. I forget the name... and I've actually found 2 weapons upgrades so far so I think you missed one. Great stuff though. I put both my upgrades for weapons on my shotgun... that sucker kicks ass. :p But Big Daddies are still difficult as hell to kill.

Anyway, good stuff. I don't regret dropping the cash on this one at all.

Well I just completed it on Hard Mode.

As I've got it on 360 there are achievements to be had, but I have only 2 more to get :D I have to get the one for upgrading/crafting/finding 50something tonics and one for finding every single audio diary.

Good Game.

I'll write a review of it tomorrow methinks!

Possible Weapon Spoiler, but useful to know - only read if you have collected all weapons or don't mind knowing which weapons are upcoming
Quote:

For the chemichal weapon don't worry to much about using it to take out regulars - because there is a fair bit of chem around (and you can invent some) so feel free to use it and not have to "save it up". I didn't use it hardly at all against anyone (including the final battle!)!

I don't use it either. :p

I mainly use the shotgun... it's the first weapon I put both power ups on. I might zap them to make em quiver while I run up and put a shot into their head. Pretty effective... with electric shotgun ammo it's even effective against big daddy.

Anyway, I'm starting to feel the lack of Adam from taking the route I took. I'm kinda looking forward to replaying on Hard in Harvest mode.

Well, I'm going through on easy mode just to get the achievements that I've missed, and Harvest doesn't realy seem to be giving me that much more adam.

Though I'm not *that* far in yet, I'll have to keep going to really see the difference.

Was it about 80 you got for releasing?

I think you get double that for harvesting, but no bonus from Tenerwhateverhername is...

Hmm.

lol, poor Peltz, not your fault for living in the 3rd world. :p

Anyway, sorry you don't have it, I'm still enjoying it. I'm up to the theater with the crazed artist or whatever. The part with the piano player was pretty cool. :)

Yeah, the bit with Cohen was pretty damned cool. Infact, I'd say that's the best part of the game, because you actually feel a bit more free. You don't have to do A and then go back to him to do B.

You can just go on a wonder and do it all at once if you like.

Have you done any of it? There's a really cool part which I don't wanna spoil ;) You'll know what I mean if I say 'famous music' (not the part with the piano)

Is the PC version Live compatible? IE, does it have Gamerscore built in?
