It seems a bit like God of War. Or a lot, can't tell for sure after such a brief look of course.

Btw don't know if i mentioned it here, but i played Gears of Wars in coop with him earlier, and we really liked it. Downside of the game is that i believe we've nearly finished it in half a day of play.
And since it was the first time i hold a xbox 360 controller in my hand i has nothing to do with us being so amazing. (frankly at times we really sucked)

Even on the hardest difficulty that game is pretty short - but it's so much damned fun to fill one of them fuckers with an clip of actively reloaded ammo I hate the exploding ones

Beowulf looks pretty good - but in the grown up version Lord of the Rings way, because the combat looks repetitive, but with a few nice breaks

hmm not heard anything about this. Interesting. And why 8th aug... Halo isn't out until 26 sept, would make more sense to wait til then. Unless its out earlier in usa and its a usa drop only. Wouldn't surprise me with the ps3 dropping in america whereas over here its the same price, you can just get more free crap with it if you want it.

Or possibly its coz of the Elite coming out and they're gonna sell the elite for £300 and drop the premium... *shrug*

The reason I'd buy Halo 3 over Mass Effect is because Halo (NOT HALO 2) looks like it plays better than Mass Effect in combat.

The reason MOST people will buy halo 3 is because people love to whore the multi player, especially (Sorry!) American kids.

The logical reason is Halo (Series) already has a mass following.

However, Mass effect does offer a lot that Halo doesn't, so I'd definately get both (with time).

I think at best, they'll sell roughly the same.

lol missed your post. Sorry Peltz, I agree with Mole. Halo 3 I personally think will be even worse than #2. #1 was good (though no more than a bog-standard shooter if I'm honest, was just the first game me and mole played together, awwww) but it is the reason people choose the xbox franchise over anything else, as Mario is with Nintendo and GTA and MGS used to be for Sony (but oh look, not any more, so long exclusive titles). Plus from a retail point of view, we've had a ton of Halo preorders ever since March and even before, with only maybe... 3 people in our store preordering Mass Effect.

General rule - shooters will outsell rpg-esque games on a console. People who like that kinda game tend to get pcs so they can have expansions/mods/bigger games. Though thanks to things like Final Fantasy, Elder Scrolls and Dragon Quest rpgs are slowly becoming more commonplace on consoles, but usually more of the action rpg variety simply due to the controls. Can you imagine BG2 done properly, with pause/choose spell book/choose spell/choose target? Would be annoying as hell on a console pad.

BG2 on consoles, BLASPHEMY, if anyone should ever attemt that they should be shot, gutted and ripped to pieces.

I dont get the halo effect? i mean its a simple stupid linear shooter? wheres the magic, wheres the coolness?

I don't see why, that's no different to command and conquer, except you can't fucking pause those games. And they've been on consoles since the first one (except RA2 onwards)

I actually agree. I don't know what made Halo (1) so awesome. I just loved it. I must have completed that game several times through. It was very satisfying to stick an Elite with a plasma grenade, or take out a Brute with a pistol. Or drive about in a warthog with Pevil.

There was nothing new, (Except the awesome that is stereotypical Master Cheif) nothing innovative, but I really did enjoy it. Untill I played the terrible PC port that is.

Great game.

Halo 2, not so great. The gameplay didn't feel quite right (though still good) but the biggest problems were.

A. Too much story to tell - to many cinematics.
B. Playing as the Arbiter? (Alien) WTF?! I don't want to be the bad guy, even if he's turns out to be a good bad guy! Fuck that shit! I want to blow his brains all over the walls!
C. Multiplayer - Great with friends, but play in a ranked match and you just get whored repeatedly by little children who insist on glitching.

The only reason Halo became a success was because it didn't suck as much as the other shooters out for consoles. When it was released for PC it flopped.
