for mine with the timing issues or whatever, the primary issue was game crashing. Sometimes blue screens. Occasionally windows would just throw an error for no apparent reason.

Ok, nothing to do with my current problem but: does Windows Vista run all windows xp games? Just in case I end up with a vista laptop.

mm, isn't having a buddy at MS the same as being in bed with devil? Well, you are dating Pev so...
But thanks for the reply. I'll try and find a laptop with XP pro then. But if it really comes down to it I guess I'll go with Vista.

you're gonna have a hell of a time finding a new OEM computer that comes with anything but Vista. Even though Vista currently sucks. If you have the option to wait, I would tell you to wait until SP1 for Vista is released.

Since I'm leaving on Monday, waiting seems to be out of the question. Kinda.
Good new perhaps: I have a friend who has a 'shopping card' for a company that provides corporations with electronics. Not only are they cheaper, I can't imagine they all come with Vista already. But they probably won't be as kickass as the commercial laptops either. Will be a tossup.

hey fellas, just recycling a thread here.
I spilled cider on my old keyboard and now it don't work, so I picked up a cheapo one.
If I plug it in to my USB hub, I get the problem with the long splash screen.
If I plug it eslewhere it's fine, but I don't want to be behind the PC all the time as we've only got room for one monitor and keyboard in this loft, so we have to keep swapping them.
Anyway, do you recond there's any way to solve this issue without swapping the slots? It doesn't make sense.
nothing to big, I've already reordered my keyboard from ebuyer

how close together are your computers? A KVM switch might do the trick. One keyboard/mouse, two computers, no swapping wires.
