Well, I'm continueing my onslaught. I sack every city I grab for the ready cash... I have probably 10 armies totally, most of them sitting in recently captured cities recruiting to fill up holes and rebuild the city defenses. I'm down to about 14 turns, but up to 33 territories (I think). I've basically shattered Denmark and Spain....I've captured their capitals several times and killed both of their kings at least once. I also smashed a full Papal army which'll hopefully keep them off my back for a bit.
A small rant....say you see a lone geeral unit...not even a king or prince, just a regular general...24 body guards. You have 180 heavy infantry.... 3 units of dismounted feudal knights and 1 unit of billmen. Who do you think would win? Well, apparently the general. It took 180 heavy infantry to pull down 23 heavy horse... and then took 12 units of archers several minutes to kill the stupid general. I ended up having to take the fortress with my archers....charging 14 units of archers into hand-to-hand combat with heavy horse and infantry can be sobering. I actually still owned them...killed the entire town to the last man with 20 seconds left on the clock. It wouldn't have been so close if my heavy infantry hadn't been wiped out.
Some piccies: The top one shows one (of several) battles where I annihilated Spain's army. My army had actually been trapped against some mountains, but the height advantage let me trounce them.

Some glorious battle there i see.
Are those Yeomen or Retinue? I think Retinue are just like Yeomen, but much better at hand to hand combat.
My gyppo campaign is going v.well. The mongols have appeared but they have not got to my territories yet. I have 2 armies of horse archers and royal mamluk heavy cav waiting.
I have some awesome bottlenecks. Basically everything east of Carthage ending at Gaza (and Jerusalem). I will soon take all of N.Africa against the Moors, which were sending troops into my land. The Turks are against me too now, but I smash everything with my armies. Also, a few crusades have been attempted against my Jerusalem, but again, stupid knight based armeis are no match for mounted bowmen.

hehe...sounds like you've got a good setup. If you can manage to hold all of north africa, you could invade Europe nearly anywhere.
And yea, I'm using mainly retinue longbowmen...which I suppose explains how I can own heavy infantry in hand to hand. I've had to do that a few more times since then...alot of armies break when they see 12 units of longbowmen with swords drawn charging at them. heh.
I'm down to 9 turns left. 36 Territories held. I have two fleets sitting in the Med waiting to pick up 2 armies so I can sail and nab Jerusalem (one of the victory conditions). Assuming I pwn it, I may grab some nearby settlements. Spain is almost gone...1 more settlement. I've also taken several of the northernmost italian provinces. I may not make it by the time I run out of turns, but I'll be damned close.

Starting with the Spanish should make a nice challenge. I've just started with the English, I need one more Scottish castle to complete my domination of the British isles, then I'll punish the French for backstabbing me (although the backstabbing hurt them more then me until now). I fail to see the huge development since RTW too, but I've just started with the game.

lol, manbitch.
Good to know youve tagged along the meddy-bandwagon Arathorn. Youre right, there is NO major development.
I think the Gyppo campaign is too easy.
I will start afresh as the Byzantines seeing as I now have a fetish for mounted archers!

I think playing as the Byzantines could be quite tough, as you'll be surrounded by mother fuckers wanting war against you.
Unfortunately I can't play until Wednesday night, I have to type 9 pages before tomorrow, which will keep me occupied until very late this night, and for Wednesday I have to make a presentation with two other guys, and we haven't done anything for that yet. Luckily I like working under such pressure (in fact, I have so little discipline I can almost only work under such pressure).

welp....I put the smackdown on several popes (you can kill the pope!), but I'm not going to beat it. One of my two armies got destroyed at sea (the ones sailing to jerusalem), and the remaining one has no siege weapons. I have like 4 turns left and own 43 territories...I can get the remaining 2 no problem, but there's no way I'll get jerusalem. Ah well, worth playing out anyway.
oh, and the graphics are alot better if you go into the options and crank everything up...but my box can't push it maxed. Lag city.

Byzantine campaign is going very easy. I have 3 armies already stationed defensively. Now all i need is to build another to go island grabbing. The economy of the Byzantines is awesome, unlike the Russians.
This time, im fielding armies consisting of:
1x General (kataphractoi)
19x Byzantine cavalry (mounted archers costing 150 upkeep and not totally useless in hand to hand)
Total pwnage!

hehe...gj. I built an army of conquering, and then the computer cheated and sank them at sea.
Following is the end of a really desperate fight for a town. One of my generals got 8 experience, the other 4.

1250 is a pretty high count, unless he was riding down hordes of broken units.
