Finished the game.

Well up until level 17 the game is ok, after that its a pure disaster. Mostly because obsidion forgot to test the game. The bugs really hit hard in the last part of the game when that one stupid paladin or warrior goes charging into gazillion mobs because he thinks its fun to attack an enemy 20km away, which i cant even see with my main character. Any big battle is pure chaos, companions change targets too fast and too easily. And the fact that you cant see shit while all those sunbursts and fireballs and meteors hit the ground doesnt help much either. Damn i miss IWD2 already :D

And Rinox, the last part of the game is not soloable and yer stuck for a while with one companion if you want or not.

Well i didnt exactly play it 1 or 2 hours a day, more like 10 hours a day :D, so it roughly adds up to 50h of gameplay, give or take some.

I mean the story is good, although sometimes too predictable. And there are some nice twists and turns. But the last boss fight is disappointment, some of his minions but up a better fight :D

SPOILER warning:

There is an exceptionally good and very nice looking falchion for evil alignment in the game. It looks like something youd expect from a fallout game so it looks and feels awesome and you get it 100%, its just the matter of picking it up after a fight from the Inn.

Well yes but they dont die :D

You see, one of the new features of NWN2 is that when your companions reach 0 hitpoints, they become half-dead, the game sais they are unconsious but you cant just revive them, need resurection scroll or spell while in combat. Once the game determines the immediate surrounding safe, it will bring your allies back to life with 1hp.

Word of advice, have your wizard, when leveling up, take the darkness spell, just in case. Not gonna say more, just a suggestion, since by the time you actually need it, it isnt sold in any shop :D

I won't have a wizard man, not willingly anyway. ;)

And yeah I heard about the Kotor system being used in NWN2...I think this sucks. What kinda kiddy system is that aye? 'Don't worry they're not dead, they're just sleeping' I mean I didn't mind it (much) in Kotor because it felt ok for those games.

But for D&D I want my party members to die and having to be resurrected at all times dammit!! There should be a penalty for having a part member die, or at the very least it should be 'scary'. Having them get back up like nothing happened after the fight is ridiculous :(

The IWD system was the best: everyone could die, but none of the weird BG2 'everyone can get chunked but if your main accidentally fails a save it's game over' stuff.

hehe...I loved the chunking. It was so satisfying to score a crit and watch the enemy explode. Or Jaheira. :)

Oh yeah, it rocked. :)

A mate of mine has nightmares about the chunking though  He was playing BG2 for the very first time (what a blissfull feeling, I can remember it still: I played nothing else almost for an entire week :o )and he had been caught TOTALLY unaware by Yoshimo's treachery...

So he had already been shaken by Yoshimo selling out (which, granted, was a masterful move by Bioware) and then during the battle in the Brynnlaw asylum (with irenicus, the crazy inmates, the assassins and Yoshimo) Yoshimo CHUNKED Cernd with a critical hit backstab. :D

He was...shocked. Like, really not understanding it. In a few seconds he lost two of his party members, permanently. hahaha...I still remind him of it when he's acting like a sucka. :)

ya, its not a small game at all, there is a LOT to do, not as much as bg2 but hey.. if you only get about 3-4 hours a day it takes ages...

i tell ya, with a full crew, at times it actually FEELS like bg2. i kinda like the chaos of battle, but i think a good few years of playing on epic nwn servers where ya cant pause has sharpened the old reflexes

shame to hear about the bugs peltz, the next patch is out on the 27th, hopefully it will fix a few things, like practised caster  my eldritch knight wants it now you bastards

Spoiler:

There is a way to open blacklake distr. and docks once you no longer have access to it in act 3 i think.
Go to embers, enter the well, exit the cave to duskwood, and enter world map from there and most of the now closed off areas are open again.
I would not suggest it though coz it can result in a huge mess, possibly corrupting the game so dont do it :D
Now i wonder why i even wrote this, possibly to score more posts to my count. double LoL :D

Edit:

Oh and druids absolutly rock. Earth elemental form, plus that flaming body spell and bombardment or aura of vengeance and even mages have hard time taking aggro.

Two thumbs up for druids!

OK so the game itself is not that bad - although I get a bit frustrated with the movement but bah - but come on I think Satis and I sat through like 20-30 min of dialog yesterday in one section - who would not think that excessive?

20 minutes of dialogue?! I would expect that from planescape torment or an elder scrolls game, but for d&d that does sound kinda over the top yeah.

I've got a borrowed copy of NWN 2 lying around but it's competing with Medieval and Oblivion for my attention...not easy.

yea, Shiny and I are playing this game now like we used to play Baldur's Gate. some of the dialog is retardedly long, but the game is certainly alot of fun. I'm a chaotic evil cleric and shiny's a neutral evil thief. I think I'm level 5 at this point. :p We'll probably keep you guys updated as we continue.
