 Games to watch revisited
Two titles for ya:
Heavy Rain
Quantic Dream, the guys that brought us the incredible Fahrenheit, announces Heavy Rain. Not much is known about the game yet, but knowing Quantic dream we can expect a very strange, almost cinematic experience.
They released a small trailer that features the emotional range they want the characters to portray. The accent and the imperfections (lip sync, teeth especially) take away some of the grip, but I think the acting looks frightfully believable. Oh, and it's all real-time rendered, including the tears apparently. It's scheduled for early 2008 So they have plenty of time to perfect it. By all means check out the trailer. The range of emotion the actress goes through is really cool.

here's a short interview with the makers
http://ps3.ign.com/articles/711/711613p1.html
Supreme Commander
All you RTS whores, listen up! This one's gonna hit like a fucking nuke. Supreme Commander is the newest project of Chris Taylor, the man behind the RTS classic Total Annihilation.
What stands out is the am-az-ing zoom capacity. You can zoom from a footman to a 'world view' map. The Commander concept has been upgraded since TA. (the commander is a medium-sized robot that can be modified to your liking, from a super builder to a defense monster to a tactical nuke master etc) You will be able to use nukes (but also missile defense), have massive water battles and there are a few superunits that can literally walk over regular vehicles etc.
Well, i really don't have to say anything, just look at the trailer. Full screen and sit back.

(you can download the HD trailer, don't have to watch it in the browser window)

K, I'm extremely bored and the owner of a summer special with previews, so here we go.
Alan Wake
Not much news...no release date knows. What is known is that Remedy Entertainment (of Max Payne fame) has found a producer in MS...which means that the game will be PC and Xbox only. Anyway, a game some of us here definitely look forward to -not in the least I.
E3 2006 footage here
http://www.gamershell.com/download_13673.shtml
Bioshock
The spiritual successor of System Shock 2. It's completely unrelated to SS but the developers are the same and the name gives it away...they're trying to recreate the atmosphere. Looks very promising, but planned for 2007. Especially the AI interaction (too long to explain) will be something to look forward to.
No footage that I know of out, but here are some screens
http://www.sshock2.com/bioshock/screenshots/
Crysis
Not much to say, next-gen shooter from the makers of Far Cry. That says enough. Release date: end of 2006
E3 2006 Trailer at

Dark Messiah of might and magic
I have a thread running for it in the RPG forum so I won't go into it here too much...release is for September 2006, yay!
Some gameplay footage at
http://www.gamershell.com/download_14459.shtml
Pretty cool, I recommend it.
Hellgate London
Something to look forward to! Basically Diablo (developing team and all) but in 3D. Tons and tons of enemies, cool weaponry (guns, swords, bombs, magic!), a huge lvl cap, item fever etc...and random generated levels, which means that the game will be different everytime you play. Looks very cool!! The release date is a "done when it's done" (probably beginning 2007, end 2006).
E3 2006 trailer here:

recommended trailer again
Spore
needs no introduction, I think. Just trailers
http://www.gamershell.com/download_13737.shtml (17mb)
http://www.gamershell.com/download_13738.shtml (200mb)
http://www.gamershell.com/download_13739.shtml (ditto)
Scheduled for second quarter of 2007
Medieval 2: Total War
Another one that needs no introduction…scheduled for November 2006 already Sweet!
E3 2006 trailer at

Overlord
A peculiar game that’s all about being the bad guy…basically it’s all about getting to power, starting out with a small army of minions you start by terrorizing small farmers and move on to villages, cities, etc. The pure fun of being an evil badass is hard to beat.
Couldn’t find a video but check

http://www.triumphstudios.com/press.php
for more info and some pics
The rest
No specific mention but these are in the wings as well
Unreal Tournament 2007 (first quarter 2007)
Battlefield 2142 (October 2006)
Splinter Cell: Double Agent (september 2006)
F.E.A.R. Extraction Point (fall 2006)
STALKER (first quarter 2007 )
C&C3: Tiberium Wars (2007)
Paraworld (third quarter 2006)
Caesar IV (september 2006)
Gothic 3 (fall 2006)
Sacred 2 (end of 2006)

Whew..enjoy.

thanks for posting. I'm looking forward to a fair number of those as well, though some I'm sure will totally stink. Like Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. :p

Pff, disbeliever! I'll probably even get the game if it was for the amazingly cool dagger throwing alone...plus I have faith in Arkane. It's gonna own!

I'm not so excited about most of those.
I watched the bioshock movie. It looks like it has some potential, but at the same time it looks like it has tons of room to suck. So we'll see.

Just Cause.
-GTA-like action but with little less physics laws and loads more of action. The demo is out and well the atmosphere and gameplay is so cool with a touch of humour that im willing to look past the fact you can hang on to the tail of a helicopter and parachute of a moving vehicle
The Guild 2.
-The sequel to Europe 1400: The Guild. Sorta mix of RTS and RPG and whatnot.
Stranglehold.
-It'll probably suck like most action games but atleast the videos are cool.
Pirates of the Carribean Online.
-I'm a sucker for pirates games
Jagged Allience 3D (working title).
-I have played every Jagged Allience title there is. And will play this one too if it ever gets released, theres been dramatic shortage of updates of anykind.

Just a warning on Just Cause (now out), its one of those you either love or find incredibly boring. It's selling averagely over the last week; few have brought it back complaining they fell asleep, others come in raving about it.

If the Luxons ever needed a king, they'd elect Satis the king of jade. hehehe. Come on, NWN 2, Medieval 2, Dark Messiah...that's a veeery nice line-up.
Peltz, good call on Jagged Alliance 3d. I loved the original games.

Dark Messiah has me interested, but I'm afraid it's gonna suck.
Medieval, Total War 2 (whatever it's called) looks like it's going to rock. Hell, if it's a Rome: TW with better graphics I'll be happy.
I never played NWN, so NWN2 doesn't make me cream.
I really just need something to replace my MMO slot...guild wars is boring the piss out of me. I mean, I've practically memorized FoW, FFS....but anyway.... I need vanguard or huxley or something.

downloaded and played it....cool! It's definetely more battlefield goodness, but with a definite futuristic focus this time. I'll be buying it when the full game comes out in about two weeks. I ended up grabbing it via bittorrent...the links above were really slow and actually aborted my download abou 30MB in. I'm still seeding, since I'm such a good guy.
Anyway, it reminds me a LOT of Tribes. I guess it's all the shiny glowy death. There's also alot to learn, fo sho....I got pwnt alot, though I managed to give back a little bit. Looks like the "go prone whenever you shoot people" tactic is back in full force. Also, either the demo is really limited, or my shit was buggy, cuz I couldn't cuztomize my kit, nor did I get "xp" or whatever for missions. But bleh...I'll wait for the full game before I get too concerned about that.
Anyway...cool game.
