If you mention my desription, I must disagree with you, derf. If you mention your playing style, ok.

Ah ok. In that case I think there is no disagreement.

My gaming mag gave Blood Money a very good rating and the special remark "brilliant level design". So, mr 'the leveldesign doesn't make sense' Satis, what's your take?
P.S. I didn't mean you said the hitman design didn't make sense; but that you often cite it as a reason for not really liking a game (FEAR etc). So just checking if the reviewer is right on with Hitman

no, the reviewer is right. The level design is awesome. Some areas are much better than others, but they're all REALLY good.
The glass hot tub in the porno mansion was the best.

So, I got the game, but it turns out I got the FRENCH edition. FFS!!
Now, I can understand French and all, but it's just not the same. Gah. Might have to return it if I can be bothered.

I bought this the other day, and Ive just finished the "Curtains Down" level.
So far its ok/good. Im playing it on Pro and one thing i noticed right away was that it uses the splinter cell engine, which i dont agree with. It feels clunky. The missions themselevs are ok too. Bizzarly, you can't actually take the "Leon" approach on missions (busting in, and capping everyone) for 3 reasons:
1. Its too hard, you dont have alot of health to play with.
2. Too many cops. I try not to kill bodyguards, but cops i dont touch.
3. Headlines and the "Notoriety" thing at the end of the level means you feel you cant massacre every level.
The first mission (Fairground) i got the Massacre rating at the end. I was quite brutal. The second mission i got Contract Killer, and the third i got Silent Assassin.
It takes a little while to scout the area and discover the "accidents" that can make the kills for you, and that seems to be my favourite option at the moment. I just hope the game doesnt get too linear in this sense.
As for upgrades, all ive really done is put low velocity ammo in my silverballer, as well as bought a silencer and a laser sight. Ive upgraded the misc tools, but the other weapons (smg's, shotties) i just dont touch. In missions, i just bring along my silverballer.
One thing that kinda pisses me off is that the silverballer in reality is a colt .45, but here they say its a 9mm. Plus, i dont understand why low velocity ammo costs about 50k.
All in all, its fun so far. Not a "sim" as such that i would get instantly obsessed with, but we'll see how it goes.
P.s. Graphics are nice.

hmmm...I know in the newspaper they refer to the silverballer as a .45 (or .44 or something). Unless my memory betrays me.
The curtains down mission is a wild one. If you take the time to walk around, I realized there were just dozens of ways to beat that mission. You could drop lights on his head...you could replace the prop gun with a real gun and let the other actor kill him. You could dress up as the other actor and kill him on stage. You could climb up in the rafters and pop him in the face with a sniper rifle. You could kill him in his dressing room.....
anyway...needless to say, the options are definetely there. But the cops make shit hard. The first time I beat it, I ended up massacring virtually everyone in the bathroom. The cops would just line up trying to get in, so I'd kill em. It was very messy. :p

Okay, the fairy tale factor is really starting to kick in, and im getting pissed off.
Im doing a mission where there are 3 gansters in a rehab centre, and 1 CIA agent. This is fubar. There must be about 5 real patients, 15 cops, 15 bodyguards, and 10 workers. Kinda heavy on the bullshit. Its as if they on purposely slapped huge numbers of cops on the levels so that you cant do your hits traditionally, ie, a la Leon.

the first time I did that mission, I killed everyone. :p In fact, that's true for most missions. Wait till you hit Mardi Gras. That bitch is hard as hell. Anyway, I kinda enjoyed that one. All the rehab patients secretly sneaking off and drinking liqour.

I got the game for real now, borrowed it from a friend (who said it was great too). So I'll report back to you guys.
I just beat the mission Derf mentioned two posts above this one, at the rehab centre. Of course, I killed everyone. In fact I made a promise to myself to kill as many people as I can. I don't go for that stealth stuff, I arrive at the scene, pull out a handgun and pop a cap in the head of the first person I see. Then I usually fight off waves of guards and security dudes, proceed to slaughter all innocent people and then go for my actual target. Then I snuff out the last remaining ppl on the map, usually some suckas in remote corners that didn't even notice the massacre. If you're gonna be a psychopath, you better be a good one is what I say!
So far my rating has been Psychopath/Psychopath/Deranged slayer. See if I can keep up my run. Bodycount of 200 people over 3 assignments seems like a decent run.
I especially enjoyed the pensioner's resort/vineyard/dope trafficking center. Man, that was a real mess. Dead pensioners littered all over the resort. The sucky part was that some of them actually fought back and picked up a guard's weapon. resulted in some nasty 'shot in the back' moments.
Good times. i'll try to get some pics up.

lol...though just going on murder sprees CAN indeed be fun, I prefer the sneaky methods. It's very satisfying to me to find out a way to kill only the targest without anyone noticing you. Or not using a gun. Like the vineyard...I like running down the cliff face, then pushing a couple people into the water, stealing a guard uniform, going back to the top, climbing to the roof of the house, going in the window, slitting the guy's throat with a kitchen knife while he's playing his cello....anyway...that game is fun as hell. The casino in Las Vegas is probably one of my fav levels.
