Hehe, thanks Pev! Finally we get some more insight in the Gman and the vortigaunts. Bastards!
I don't have Episode 1 yet, but I plan on getting it. HL2 is still the best shooter around...having said that, anyone tried Prey demo yet? It looks promising.

Imo, the storyline of Prey sounds really uber lame. Anytime you throw in a native american with spirit walking, I immediately tune out.

so, I played it...
the graphics are awesome...but they should be since it seems to be using the quake4 engine. That doesn't devalue it, of course...very pretty. The gameplay is...different. They love playing with your equilibrium, that's for sure. Some of that walking on ceilings crap damn near makes me nauseous. The spirit walking is...different, I guess.... though I do like the fact you don't really "die". In an fps, that gets kinda old at times...here, you just go into your little spirit thing, kill a few things, then you're back and can keep killing.
I still think all the pseduo-metaphysical crap is...well...crap. But it's interesting...it's basically a first person shooter with a bit more to it. I don't know if I'll buy it or not...I hope it's no as repetitive as it looks like it may be. That's what kills most FPSs for me, the repetition.
So, anyway, it looks interesting, but I'm still not hooked.

Downed it and played it, really liked it.
The graphics are very nice, and judging by the things they introduced in the demo (rooms 'flipping', wall/ceiling-walking, portals, spirit walk, changeable weapons, etc) I think there's a lot of potential for creative minds to create some awe-inspiring gameplay. The only real beef I have with the demo is that I'm worried they stuffed all the innovations in it (and thus, the first part of the game). Oh and the Cherokee mythology and all, but at the very least it's an original viewpoint. A native American with contempt for cultural traditions being sucked into a huge alien spaceship? W00t!!
I got my gaming mag today, it gave a 90% rating for Prey. That's a lot (most I've ever seen was 95% iirc) I didn't read the review yet tho...but the score is promising.
Btw, one of the coolest portal moments in the demo is when you're standing in the bar (sucked in by the spaceship too) and portals open on all 4 sides of you. I automatically fired on the figure inside the portal in front of me, only to find that was me. Very cool.

Anyone got Episode I yet? Cos I just got some savings from the bank (filling the gap between being a bum and a working class hero with it) and I was thinking of getting it.

Ok, I got it and I finished it. Overall impression: it was great, but short. And when I mean great I mean great, not average.
I'd elaborate but I'm writing a review for on the site. No comment Satis. Hehehe.

Just finshed hl2:ep1. I really liked it. I thought the AI was incredible. Story was good. The ending pissed me off. Way to short a game. Beat it in 1 day.

Completely agree 11B...look out for the review I wrote on CK in a couple of days, it pretty much says the same as your post only less condensed.
