Post I wonder...
Every time I insert some CD into my CD drive, the whole system will be blocked in waves, several times before I am able to read the CDs content or continue to work something on the computer. Would it happen that some of you know why does it happen and what would be the ways to trim it?

Btw, would you know some good site to start to get more familiar with the hardware and its tweaking?

Pliz :)

Hmm, satis would probably recommend Toms Hardware or something like that... I'm sure he'll give you the link, or google it, whichever.

Sorry to hear about the problem, only thing I can think of would be something nasty trying to access the CD's you put in, A duff CD drive or a faulty conection.

They're all guesses.

Sounds like a bad cd or cdrom drive. Maybe the cdrom drive is causing som I/O errors. Check your event log under "administrative tools" for any error codes relating to your cdrom drive.

 GFreenglish strikes again.

Erm... it is just usual block of system while CD drive initializes. You know: you put CD in, then you have to wait, then you can work further. But it is still annoying. :? Thanks for the nice advices tho. They would be of use some other time.

The reason I assumed the worst, was because if I insert a CD in to my CDROM drive, my computer doesn't hang at all.

Not unless I auto run, then the only hanging is me hanging on for the game to load.

Aha... so that would be the question then: How to disallow autorun?

I remember I tried alot of things, but regardless of my selection "computer should do nothing when CD is inserted", it autoruns it or popup me the window where it asks "what to do" for each new CD I insert.

RUN: regedit

Navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/Cdrom

Double Click "Autorun"

Change the 1 to 0.

Click "ok"

Restart.
