I think all of those qualities are good in a car though.

Motorbikes aren't really "faster" than cars, they just feel it.

Ofcourse, they are quicker of the mark and have a generally faster acceleration, but overall speed a car could probably get more of a burst, simply due to the engine size that is more easily possible and increased downforce.

I prefer cars. People are stupid...someone will hit me some day. If I'm in a car, I may survive. If I'm on a bike, I probably won't.

Anyway, my day continues... came home and my water heater blew up. Yay. Water all over my garage. No water in my house. I think I'm just going to quit my job, take off all my clothes, and run down the street screaming. Then I won't ever have to worry about anything ever again.

How long do you think before you can get the boiler fixed? And keep the Dickian manic episodes in check Satis. ;)

Damn man. I feel for you.

And besides, Yeah I'm more likely to die on a bike than a car, true.

But so? One day someone might die because they stuck a cotton bud (I think you call it a queue tip) to far in their ear, or because they choked on their own spit.

Heh, that still no reason to take unnecessary risks. I read a survey a few weeks ago which said that motorbike drivers were up to 7 times more likely to have a fatal accident than someone driving a car. That's some pretty badass statistic...enough to stay away from bikes I say. :P

Anyway, I don't think the "you could die anyway" argument really goes...sure you can die at any time, but it makes even less sense to decrease your chances significantly by purposefully doing potentially dangerous stuff.

To give you a stupid example: in cities during the day I always cross at a pedestrian crossing, and I always wait for the lights to go green. It sounds silly, but I'm not gonna get killed for getting a minute or 5 later or sooner at my job or friends. you know? Relax is the codeword! Man, I sound like a hippie. :P

I have better things to do then waiting in front of a red light. If I can go I go, but that doesn't mean I'm taking risks. Traffic rules are not made for pedestrians or cyclers.

Er, the rules of the red light etc at a crossing, is made for pedestrians. Cyclers also have to abide by traffic rules. So yes they are.

And I wouldn't call riding a bike taking an unnescesary risk. It's not like I'm jumping in front of an oncoming train.

No but riding a bike in some areas is pretty damn dangerous, especially on a sunday. I was cycling down this road in an residential area with cars parked either side, lo and behold, cycling along, suddenly a car door opens wide just 5 metres in front of me. There was no time for braking, my only chance was to swerve. My left pedal must have missed the edge of the door by 1mm. I slammed the brakes just infront of the car, dismounted my bike calmly for the imminent smackdown. Suprise and shock, it was a woman, she was petrified. I gave her the most cold goddamn evil stare ever, then got back on the bike and rode on.

Another sunday, this time i was a pedestrian. In a similar residential area, i had to cross the two-way road to get to my local convenience store. The road isnt really busy, or fast, but sometimes you need to wait for a gap in traffic to cross. There are two pedestrian crossings, but they are inconveniently placed some 150m either side of me. Cars are parked on each side of the road, so i get behind one and wait for a gap in the traffic. After about 20 seconds of patient waiting, i suddenly feel this large wall-like thing press slowly against me, forcing me sideways. Lo and behold it was the parked car to the left of me, trying to run me over. The car suddenly braked (driver having realised what was going on), and i proceeded to the driver side window for a smackdown session. Just my luck. It was a woman, alone and petrified. Gave her an evil just to make her shit herself more.

I would have loved it if the drivers were guys. God knows what i would have done to them.

With the considerable help of Shiny's dad, we replaced the hot water heater last night. Got done just a little before midnight, so I got to take a shower last night. A warm shower. :p I'm glad that over with. Today I'm going to have to haul the old water heater out behind my house to get rid of it. Ugh. Bastard is heavy as hell.

Anyway..err...I agree in danger mitigation. Though I'm not averse to doing dangerous things for the thrill, doing dangerous things day in day out is a bit beyond what I'm willing to do. IE...I have skydived, and would do it again, but I'm not going to dive weekend like some people. Similarly, I could see me riding a bike... but not in traffic, not to work, not every day. If I were going to get a bike, I'd probably get a street-legal dirt-type bike and do some off roading...cuz THAT is fun. :P

Bikes (any form, push or motor) are only dangerous because car owners forget about them. When my dad still had his motor he had two accidents with dangerous drivers (one wasn't even ensured). He's never had an accident in a car, tho atm we have a people carrier.

yea, well, in my car I have to regularly watch out for morons in SUVs that try to run me down by being idiots. It'd probably be worse on a bike. This is on my 15 minute drive to work. People are just retarded...they get in their little zones, talking on their cell phones, driving their massively huge vehicles they can't control, and don't give a crap about where they're going.

*busts out Satis's Fist of Death (tm) and beats morons to death

You cant be serious?
If you dont follow the rules, not only will you receive a fine you will also have to make up any damage to the car.

If someone would cross the road in a wrong place, hence breaking the law, and my car would be damaged, you can be sure as hell im gonne collect the repair cost.

My friends dog ran infront of a car, although the dog was killed, my friend still had to pay money for repairs since he broke the law.

I know I'm not supposed to drive through a red light with my bike, but there are so many traffic lights over here that are placed on low traffic and not dangerous crossings, it would be a waste of time to wait for all of them. Cops can only fine you when they're around anyway.
