Ok so this is probably the real reason Iran wants nukes.
Also, think of this.
Iran is making nukes and has the possibilty of hurting the US dollar. The US probably really wants to nuke or launch an attack on Iran to destory it nuclear plants and materials but they cant just outright launch an attack without reason.....but......if.......there was another 9/11 type incident pointing to Iran.........

Im no expert, but i think Iran's military strength is significantly inferior to that of USA, or any other major western nation. (France, Britain, Germany).

In terms of technology and training yes, but it's a big country with huge uninhabited areas. And a religious dictatorship, which means that there is theoretically no limit on funds for megalomaniac military plans like super bunkers.
Meh, I'm just saying, even if they have an inferior army it doesn't mean they'll roll over and die. The US troops in the middle east are being stretched to the limit (prolonged stays in Iraq etc) which probably isn't great for morale; not to mention the constant attacks from all sorts of splinter groups. I seriously doubt that they could do anything else than airstrikes. Or nukes, but you know. A full-scale invasion is a delusion.

wtf?
poor ballistic missile. Where'd it go? Did they chop it off?
Anyway, military stats like that don't say a whole lot. Well...it says they have alot of REALLY old equipment. Like the tanks. I don't know about that UK one, but the rest are OLD. No modern battle tanks. And a tiny air force, also very old and outmoded. In standard warfare, they'd have no chance against the US.

Its should be No-Dong missiles. Or were you making childish penis jokes again?
Of course, these stats dont say alot at all. But it gives you a nice rough overall idea. The British Cheiftan tanks were the British MBT's for the 60's-70's. So, theyre outdated.
Basically, they have unimpressive numbers for such a technologically inferior military force.

They have a lot of soldiers though. That does a lot when it comes to ground warfare...you can't conquer a country just with planes and technology. Not without violating the odd human rights treaty that is.

well, we pwned Iraq's military...and Iran and Iraq were roughly evenly matched, judging from that little war of thirs. Still, pwning em in a standup battle and dealing with guerilla tactics are two very different things.

I think in general Iraq when being invaded was already very weak, don't forget this was Gulf War II already
So i don't think you can say that Iran and Iraq can (could) be considered evenly matched if you consider(ed) invading them.
Not to mention all the religious fanatics and other crap that will either be coming over to fight in Iran against the US or stay/come to Iraq and create more chaos there.
I think America doesn't want another guerilla war on it's hands.

I think youre right. At the moment, they probably couldnt afford another war. Unless im mistaken, and they have a larger military capacity than what i thought.

How stupid can Iranian politicians get. What good would this do to them?

lol. Ah well, it's not like the non-proliferation pact really means something. "I promise I won't make a lot of weapons and nuke your ass" doesn't mean too much coming from a random politician imho. But symbolically speaking it's kinda dork yeah.
Then again, Iran's safe for now. Atm no one can afford to engage in a real war with it and the threat they pose isn't nearly enough to warrant some sort of international coalition. But then, so wasn't Iraq and yet Bushie 'coaxed' and bought most of the Western world into helping out.
Not us, though. Not that anyone cared to be missing out on the 5 mine sweeper ships and a few para's we could have sent. But at least we still have our dignity, while the UK and Holland were kissing the US' ass!
