Well, English is basically a fusion of German (Germanic) and Latin (romance) languages. It's not so odd to see exact latin words being used in our language. "Ox is a penis" is a valid latin sentence.

As for Latin, i dont think it necessarily had strong Greek influence. I think its a native tongue of the Latium region and of the native Etruscans. Certainly, it must have been no bad a thing to speak Greek back then.

Actually to be honest- after meeting some of the Americans in my year they have more drive than we do. In fact that's probably why they changed the "ou" to "o", they were too much in a hurry to write "ou"

I agree, if anything I find Americans to be more willing to work, overall. Also more likely to spazz out, hehehe. Must be culture thing...it's a fact that Americans have less days off than Western Europeans and a higher work pressure. (easier to get fired, 'limited' welfare)

lol....for once my country isn't at the butt of you bastards' jokes. :p btw, I am lazy, but I get a surprising amount accomplished. Usually while I'm at work, supposedly doing something else, but hey, whatever works.

As for chavs...I don't really know what a Chav is, but I'm sure we have something equivalent. There are quite a few really annoying groups of people in the US.

I'd analyse this observation a bit more if youre considering generalising americans.

From what I've learned, Chavs are low-class British kids -often skinny dudes- that wear training outfits/patterned shirts/football jerseys and baseball caps. They generally look unhealthy, spend a lot of time drinking and smoking dope, harassing ppl in the street and make futile attempts at copying black urban culture.

Chavs= Council House and Violent. Basically have a uniform- burberry design clothes and spend most of their time with their socks pulled over their jogpants. They are a bit violent and hate anyone that likes metal or rock- decent music in other words. Dope isn't restricted to them tho. Other names= Scallies (Mancunian term I've introduced it before), Kevs and Pikeys.
Basically Scum.
