ok, you're all my little bishes.

Gas in this case is gasoline. I'd typically say "natural gas" for gas, but hey. And you should know by context...would this thing be powered by natural gas? Highly un-friggin'-likely.

Tell me about it! One day he used his Panda to take four of us from southern Veneto to the Alps. All of us are pretty big built guys weighing each at about 85 kilos so it was quite a trip considering that at every corner the tires would "screech" at any speed over 15kmph. Funny as hell at the time, poor car. And you know what mountain roads are like!

See, I figure it this way.

Gasoline - 8 letters. 3 Syllables.

Natural Gas - 10 letters and a space. 4 Syllables.

So surely, it's less effort to call Gasoline, Gasoline and Natural Gas, Gas? Come on you yanks are we brits base our lazyness on! What kind of example is that!

Besides, to a more realistic and bitchy point Gasoline isn't a gas in it's natural state so it's shouldn't be called gas!

Yeash. [/endrant]

So anyways, Robomule. The scary noisey mother fucker that sits by your bed at night, and everytime you close your eyes, gets a little closer.

Armour! Colour! Valour! Honour!

Maybe that's where the OU comes from.

Honour.

"On our word."

Not hard to see why that would become Honour.

good try. I looked it up to see...

c.1200, "glory, renown, fame earned," from Anglo-Fr. honour, from O.Fr. honor, from L. honorem (nom. honos)

so, apparently it goes back to Latin honorem.

so, in a way, American English is closer to the original Romanic version of the word. As a something-in-between-speaker I routinely mix up American and British English spelling, expressions and words. Apart from the minor misunderstandings (chips = fries and crap) I get by just fine.

Not counting my inherent insanity, that is.
