I flicked onto a news channel today and was appalled at what seemed like muslims protesting in london over the danish people that drew those cartoons. The news reported claimed that their chants were along the lines of "Muhammad is great!" but later they starting chanting death threats.
Although i find all religious practice idiotic, i find extremists that oppose democratic principles within their democratic homeland astronomically moronic.

To be honest, now both sides are in the wrong. The people that support the cartoons are mainly right-winged newspapers that only want to inflame the situation. On the other side of the fence you have the Muslims that want to "butcher" (direct quote from protestor) the people who did the cartoons under Islamic Law- this is in Britain!
Yes I find some of the cartoons offensive, poor taste and not really funny. However, we must also consider the price of free speech. We must be allowed to criticise other religions like Christianity has been in things like Monty Python. Yes the cartoons were offensive as it depicted Muslims as suicide bombers when clearly not all Muslims are, however, there must be ley way to deconstruct their teachings. They do take their religion too seriously and the thing is, I doubt that their god needs protection- surely he can do it himself.
Both sides are inflaming the situation- the extremist muslims are trying to take this as an offence and stir up the Middle East by showing everyone these, plus fake ones whilst right-winged papers are publishing the cartoons with pride because it inflames the Muslims and reflects that they aren't good enough for us.
Personally I hate the situation.

lol
Btw, seen the footage of the embassy burning and shit? I think it was clear that that was the work of a bunch of loser young dudes who haven't got anything better to do than cause riots. It's not even religious anymore, heh. But hey, gotta smash something right?

Yeah as ususal. Arabs are just morons. I'ld say we colonize that region again to impose some law and order. If the local governments can't protect our civilians and material, shouldn't we do that ourselves?

That's called being a vigilante- the problem with that is that you are in charge and the thirst for revenge rather than justice can take priorty. Hope you were joking about the colonising thing Arathorn. And if the US are jumping on the "lets condemn the religious hatred stuff" bandwagon then do they really, really think the Muslims will believe them?

If the US government really thinks they can alter Arab public sentiment in their favour, then they're pretty desperate.
Off course we would never be able to recolonize the Middle East again, but if it were possible, then I'ld want that.

Not after you discover the sentiments behind the colonisation and invasion of the world by european countries in the first place (i.e. we're better than you due to wrongly interpreted evolution science).
