I'd typed something considerate and awesomely cool on the subject yesterday (it's what I do), but when I submitted the forums crashed and it was lost. So anyway, I can't be bothered typing it all again.
Just this: total freedom of speech is an illusion held up by some idealists.

Cynic. OK I admit it is impossible to have completely free speech without any censorship or interference from other people. That is excluding any censorship you may do to yourself to avoid offending those other people. However, the freedom to criticise a mode of government, politics, religion etc, on reasonable, logical grounds is something that all should try to atain on the basis that it allows the balance between total freedom of speech and the responsibilty of saying those words. That's why you can never get it because people are irrational and stick to what they crave rather than what is reasonable and nice.
Hope this doesn't crash.

The muslims have a problem with the fact that it's illegal according to the Koran to make pictures showing the prophet Mohammed, but this site gives a nice overview of pictures of Mohammed through the ages. This seems to be the first time in histry that they actually care.

Its sometimes strange how hypocritical people can be- I think its the mockery that the cartoons implied is partly it.

Well, it hasn't ended, surprisingly enough. Several other European papers have reprinted the cartoons as a protest of freedom of speech against religion. Right on.
Reuters UK
I'm surprised, to be honest. But that rocks. I'm not bowing to any man's religion.

hah, what a bunch of two faced bastards. Man, screw all that. I can say that Islam is, at this point, even worse than Christianity. Woo! Quite the accomplishment. I just wish religion would be banned.

No you'll probably still get fundamentalists. I wish stupidity was illegal tho.

I dont see what the big fuss is all about. So they have a picture of muhammada with a bomb on his head? Thats the only one I found that they might think is offensive. I mean none of those come close to this
So they need to shut their bearded pie holes and grow up.

Ouch, I'm surprised they could allow that one, it is truely awful.

lol, good stuff. Maybe I should start an offensive religious pictures thread or something. :p
Anyway, as much as I dislike Christianity, at least most Christians don't totally freak if I, say, sketch Jesus being eaten by a bulldog with a swastika.
Meh, I think I may have talked this thing to death already. Freedom of speech!

I was reading a letter which found them offensive yet hadn't seen them!
I think people should be more bothered about Nick Griffith- he is a dickhead with a pile of luck yet nobodies really complaining about him despite his offensive comments which are actually religious hatred attacks
