Yeah...let's hope they work out everything a bit instead of doing the same thing with different names. And get rid of some of the bugs...I see they're already tackling the 'death at the bridge' thing, that's good.
Now let's hope they fix stuff like troop movement (getting blocked in cities with large stuff like chariots and elephants SUCKS) and work out the diplomacy even more. Like Alpha Centauri, that would rock pants. I think i'm going to play a game of AC. But I'm already playing Football manager and I'm supposed to be busy...bah. Priorities Schmiroities.
Erh...;anyway, the elite berserkers sounds absurd.

Yeh, i heard about RTW:BI some time ago.
Believe it or not, but i am still playing RTW (among other things). I installed the Mundus Magnus mod for the campaign i am in now as thr Macedonians. Mundus Magnus bastically enlarges the map to include regions as far....Tell you what, ill just post a link ot the map pic:

There you see all of the starting positions of the factions. As i said ive been playing as the Macdaddy Macedonian for a good while now. Long story short, i started off with many allies, the all back stabbed me and i am (yet again) fighting battles on all fronts, slowly conquering the world.
I will post pics of my campaign maybe today or tomorrw.

Coolness....don't forget that the attachment mod doesn't work yet, you'll have to link that shiznitz.
I was always wondering which mods were the coolest....so which ones to you recommend besides the mundus magnus thingie? And doesn't it become impossible to control large cities that are very far away on such a map?

Well, mundus magnus isnt really a mod. Its just a new map with new mercenary recruitment zones. The large size really makes playing campaigns alot better.
In terms of mods, i once tried to use Realism Total War, but it didnt work. So i settled with just mundus magnus. v2.2 of Rome Total Realism is out now, so maybe it works ok.
Heres a link to a list of most mods, big and small. (ordered by most downloaded)

Nice pics Derfman...especially the phalanx bridge deathtrap. As for that being a bug...still, I imagine many gallic/germanic tribes would really try to conquer the bridge anyway. Against more sophisticated opponents such as the romans it's highly unlikely that they'll take their chances, I agree.

This was done my old card , frame rate at aboit 5fps obviously. I was talking more about the artistry in it. Theres story behind it too:
- After a short campaign, i had won countless battles against the Gauls ina Julii campaign, i smashed them to only 2 provinces, i asked them to become protectorate, and they did. [Fill the gaps for a hollywood blockbuster].

Great news dudes (and dudettes): the RTW expansion, Barbarian Invasion is out! I already have it in my possession but since I can't find my è!é§(é RTW dvd I can't install it. The irony!
Anyway, from what I hear and read it's a great expansion...here are some features:
 | | | | Quote: New Factions Fortunately, you don’t necessarily have to play as the Romans! BI includes 10 brand new playable factions, (and some more that you’ll get the chance to meet during the game). Each of these factions has its own strategic options and a selection of exclusive units for their armies. The Franks, for example, have warriors armed with the fearsome francisca throwing axe, while the Huns and Sarmatians are peerless cavalrymen and the Sassanids are the only nation to still use elephants in battle.
Eastern Roman Empire - the rich part of the Roman World, and now reverting to a more ‘Greek’ and Eastern outlook than strictly Roman. Their heavy cavalry is frightening indeed. Western Roman Empire - under the rule of a strong Emperor there is the chance that Rome could become the centre of the world once again. The Legions may have changed, but they are still potentially powerful! Huns - When Roman envoys finally met Attila the Hun they were horrified - the Huns were a new breed of warrior who live in the saddle and could ride and fight all day! Goths - An ancient people from the Baltic, the Goths struck fear into their enemies thanks to their habit of sacrificing captives to Tyz, the war god. They may now be nominally Christian, but they haven’t forgotten all their old ways! Vandals - Their name is still a byword for wanton destruction! Driven from their ancestral lands, the Vandals carved their way across Gaul and Spain, eventually marching through North Africa to settle around Carthage. Saxons - Unlike the other German tribes, the Saxons didn’t look southwards to expand. They look seawards, and westwards towards the rich province of Britannia, creating the idea of ‘England’ in the process. Franks - The ‘Free Men’ are a Germanic tribe of fierce warriors, famed for their steadfast infantry and their utterly dangerous throwing axes. They managed to conquer all of Gaul and give the land its modern name: France. Allemanni - Although held off by the Romans over many centuries, the Germanic Allemanni people are now on the rise again. They crossed the frozen River Rhine in 366 and now are a threat to the good order of many Roman provinces. Sarmatians - A fierce warrior people from the steppes, the ‘Syrmatae’ rule the lands to the north of the Black Sea. Their women-folk are supposedly as savage as the men, but as horsemen they are almost without equal - which is why they can be found as mercenaries in Roman armies. Sassanid Empire - The Persian Empire has waxed and waned over the centuries, but in the Sassanid dynasty its rulers are vigorous and strong. At loggerheads with the Eastern Roman Empire over the Sassanids’ persecution of Christians, they are a power to be reckoned with in the East. | | | | |
Pray that I'll find my DVD between all the porn.

Heard about that one....I'll probably install it some time soon.
But omfg @ the expansion...I just got totally raped by the Huns. The most important new feature -wandering hordes- is impressive, but not always in a good way lol. It's just insane. In the first 5 rounds of the game my capital was sieged by no less than 3 2000+ armies...I had like 4-5 units in there, and a crappy woorden wall.
That was an awesome battle tough, cos I managed to kill about 2000 enemies and route most of them with only 700 men. And that wooden wall.
Just to say: it's hard. Especially when you're in the east near the Huns. The horror...they come and sack (not occupy) your cities with their horde of 5-6 full armies. It's insane. I think I pretty much can forget about the current savegame...I have no cities, a crummy little army, 17k of debt and enemies near. I managed to beg the Huns for a ceasefire, but that was probably my greatest achievement so far.
I'm tempted to start over with a people far, FAR away from the Huns. Like Morrocans or something.
On the bright side...the expansion looks really cool. New factions, units, features, better unti detail...when I turned everything up with 4 massive armies in sight I chugged tho...and I have a high-end pc. So Derf, you can try it..I'll just stick to very high but not superhigh graphics
