Post strange goings on..help please
ok, something happened last night that i really can't explain.

in my docs i have a few other folders (ya know, my pictures, downloads, blah..). these individual folders are still there but the contents have just vanished. from all of them.

anyone have any idea what the hell has happened? the only thing i did do was install the microsoft beta antispyware (which i've done before) and pee about with firefox. as far as i know i've been messing with nothing that could cause this.

(oh, and my wallpaper went, but all shortcuts, etc are still there.)

i've no idea if the files are still there but i've downloaded something i know was already supposed to be in that folder and had no 'do you want to copy over, blah' type messages.

its not that big a deal but it means i have to re-download the patches i had, my FM2005 saves have gone. very annoying

you sure your login to windows didn't change at all?

go to c:\documents and settings and check out all the profiles there. See if htere's more than one. If there is (or even if there isn't) go into one (all) and then into My Documents. See if your missing stuff is hanging out in another profile or something. If it is, just copy it into the All Users Profile or your actual profile or something.

hmmm...you pick up some funky virus, trojan, or similar? Things don't just magically disappear on their own. Any kids playing on your PC recently? Sorry...your last bet is to do a find on your harddrive for a filename if you remember any.

This has never happened to me. Obviously it probably has nothing to do with the files being hidden?
