oh yea, I know what part you're talking about. I did the same thing...fought all of em at once. Wasn't too big a deal, but I had the old bitch and what's-his-fuck along for the ride. Murdered everyone present. Great fun.

I wanna hear how you do in the duels. You'll know what I'm talking about when you get there.

Mmmmm...encountered first major bug: every time I try to leave the secret Jedi academy (with all the white-haired girls) on my ship, the inside setting of the Ebon Hawk fails to load up. :? I get the cursor, the "bzzzz" sound of the hawk, and I can even click on inventory/party etc. buttons in the right top corner (but I can't see them)...screen just stays black. Tried changing res. etc. to see if it loads up, nothing. bah.

Might be that some routine got screwed up in the academy though....I was fighting the handmaidens (that was good fun, pwning them all 5 at once) etc., and in the process the two NPC's I'd just released from prison (the old lady and the dude dude) were sidelined to the battle ground thingie. Now, when the battle was done, they just stood there...couldn't regroup them in the party screen, couldn't get a response out of them by talking.

I'm guessing this is the cause of the issue...I'm pretty sure I have a savegame left from before this happened, so I'll try and doing the stuff again. Sucks, cos owning those 5 wasn't exactly easy. Fun? sure, easy? nope. :( I was hoping for that biotch with the light sabre to come out and face me so I could frag her and take the jedi artifacts, but nooo.

I suppose I'm not at Satis' duel thing yet, either. I'll keep you posted....the story has taken a turn for the better, but overall I'm still not overly impressed with the game. I mean the whole package. Then again, it's not easy to match KOTOR I.

yea, the dueling I'm talking about are those 5 chicks. I couldn't beat all 5, though I owned 4. Still, you're mister uber-melee template, so I guess it figures. I just force-lightninged the bastards to death.

Anyway, I did the same thing with the characters, them getting sidelined and then just standing there rather than regrouping. Didn't make any difference to my game, so I don't t know if that's causing your load issue. Never ran into that particular problem. Sorry bud.

Mm; k. Since it kept happening I decided to load to a moment just before I entered the complex (just after crashing our plane, AGAIN...that dude is a horrible pilot) and did everything over again...the only things worth doing in there are talking and the duels anyway. And guess what: next time around, everything loads fine. :? So combined with your info I'd say it's majorly random, not very reassuring.

As far as the duels went...you're a Sentinel, right? I'm the guardian thingie yeah...besides, I like to invest a lot of points in defense regardless, I invest everything in CON and take all the feats such as toughness...makes for major damage-taking. So I guess I'm advantaged when fighting 5 ppl at once. I also used force lightning to fry 2-3 of the dorks; it's ultracheap for one as dark as me (and you, probably). Then with the help of some Mandalorian melee shields and stimulants whooped the others.

I'm still doubting where to go now, planetary destination-wise...I'm already completely on the Dark Side, and I'm pretty darn sure that's not going to change anytime soon. Like Satis i'm puzzled about whether I would have gotten a light sabre if I kissed Atris' ass on the academy...instead of saying that I would pwn her and then taking off like I did now.

No matter, light sabre or not, I will destroy the jedi soon enough.

MAYBE SPOILER FOR SATIS?

Been playing along quite a bit...finally found a lightsabre, and then another one. Now it's only a matter of making them red and I'm back in town. (got dark side mastery and all)

Did Nar Shaddaa, but apparently some quests can't be completed on there -at least, that was what it looked like. So I ventured back into the galaxy.

Btw, I came to the point Satis described, the light sabre jumping. But I can't understand why she gave you any problems, though. :? I was without a sabre too at that point, and she went down in three blows, even when I was seriously injured from fighting some dudes named the Red Eclipse who had decided to confiscate my ship. But maybe you had the same thing happening and were caught unaware after the red eclipse fellas, dunno.

Anyhoo...set sail to Onderon and Duxn. had massive fun on Duxn, the Mandalorians, now THAT are real hardasses. Not that jedi pansy morality...I felt completely at home over there. And the man-to-man battles were great fun. The unarmed and regular sword only battles weren't always easy, but when the last guy dared me to use my full capacities he must have been delusional, 5 seconds and done. I have a funny feeling about who Mandelorian really is btw. But about the one-on-one battles; I can imagine only using melee can be a real challenge for a non-melee oriented character. After all, strip a consular of his/her force usage and you've got one weak kitten.

Still on Onderon...checking things out atm. None shall stand in my way.

Sidenotes: I don't trust anyone on my freaking ship. Here's a list of my slaves

->the old lady annoys me and tries to play mindgames...of course, she's still my slave and servant.
->Atton: I'm starting to like him a little bit more, tbh. Still, i'll kill him when the opportunity arrives.
->The horned repairman: awesome repairman, overall loyal. But I don't trust him...there's something about him.
->Handmaiden: obviously don't trust her, but she does seem to have an eagerness to learn my powers. Which is nice.
->The Sith woman: she's the right hand of one of the highest sith lords, apparently. Fuck that shit, locked her in the turbine room if I could.
->Mandelorian: not sure if he's an NPC, but I did have him along on Onderon for the time being. I like his ethics, as I said. Probably the best likable sentient so far.
->T3: ah, my faithful droid. The only one/thing I can say I trust somewhat. But even he's acting suspicious lately.

I'm telling you, they're all out to get me. Bastards and their secrets....why won't the game let me shove a light sabre down their throats and have them confess all they know? Now THAT would be realistic!

P.S. Anyone had a problem on arriving in Dantooine? I tried to land there, had a chat with the customs officer or something, but when I walk around and face a certain side of the area; the game slows down enormously and my movement freezes....like, completely, I have to restart the game to be able to move again, reload doesn't help. But when I get out and face the other side everything goes as smooth as possible.

I'd say it's a gfx problem, but a)it's absurd that one side of the map works perfectly and the other don't, and b)I can't imagine that anything on that map can smack my pc performancewise if the rest of the game has been running perfectly fine...open plains, big cities, lots of ppl gathered. Let's just hope it's gone when I next land there...

I had problems with performance on dantooine as well. What I always do is adjust the graphics settings ever so slightly (even heavier seems to work) and then it will run smoothly again for a while.

I had problems in the Jedi Atris' 'secret underground "lair" as well. And I have an actual bought and patched game so...

Hehe, I do talk to them, actually. :P I like to twist them to the dark side, but I don't like it when they pretend they're controlling me (Kreia, for example). I mean, we all know I am superior. I could wipe her out with my pinky finger.

as for the performance probs...as i suspected, it's not us, it's the crappy finishing job Obsidian did on the game.

http://forums.obsidianent.com/lofiversi ... 33309.html

That should probably help me get rid of it when I land on Dantooine. But man, it's such a waste that the game has been rushed this badly to be released. Without all the bugs and graphical slowdowns it would have been great. And if they made the beginning of the game less long-winded. I've heard nothing good about the storyline itself towards the end, either, ppl say it's totally rushed and confusing. That's a pretty major bummer, as it's been more than ok so far.

I still think Lucas himself should play Kotor I to see what a gret storyline in the SW universe is like.

The ending is indeed sadly inadequate for the huge potential of the game. Don't get me wrong, Kotor II is indeed a great game. I'm going through again now, Dark side consular, but it could have been much more than great, it could have been sheer genius.

I know of a modding community that are actually trying to make a mod that would reinstate Obsidian's original endings, or something that comes close at least.

From what I've read, it's LucasArts' fault that Kotor II was rushed and incomplete at release.

Typical...damn Lucas. :?

Well, I finished the game....and I have a double feeling. On the one hand It's still kotor and the atmosphere is great; not to mention the cool light-dark stuff and the light sabre techniques etc. But on the other, the game is packed with bugs, graphically not streamlined (not to mention outdated), the ending sucked balls (I wanted a more hands-on farewell with ym partymember), and I the balance was questionable. Some major opponents were surprisingly tough, and others I struck down in 2 blows....that's not right. I don't mind the fact that I got so amazingly powerful that I ripped through hordes of smaller opponents at a time though; that's exactly what a sith of my capacities would do. So anyway, double feeling. There's an obvious opening for a KOTOR III at the end so we can only hope Bioware takes over again and does another stellar job like with the original.

My character owned...pretty much maxed out everything on the defensive part, taking every feat I could giving extra HP, damage resistance etc. Not to mention the Sith Maurauder perks, 15% damage soaking is pretty hard when there are opponents are dealing 100 damage at a time. :D In the end I was so powerful I shrugged off basically anything they threw at me...at peak moments I had about 700 HP so a critical of 80-100 barely meant anything. Of course, I pretty much sucked in the force, both in amount of force powers and effects...I must say however, that I preferred to fight in dark jedi master robes during the battles with multiple opponents at the end, I might suck at the force but force lightning still fries an entire room in 3 tries.

mm...other things to mention...NPC's: I ended up really trusting Mandalore, Canderous can have my back anytime. :) And my faithful droids of course, except for that lamer go-to. All the other are scum I spit on. Oh, and the wookie is a scarily efficient killer when enraged; dang. I must say he surprised me...I had to use him as a tank for a while when I couldn't use my main, and he was more than ok. Of course he's still a wookie and still smells, but you know.

Looking back, leaving all those dead in my wake does bring a smile on my face. All those jedi masters and sith lords dead, struck down. *counts on fingers* must at least have been 7-8 I owned. The force just became a little bit more exclusive in the galaxy.

P.S. anyone any idea how to get my pics on here...now the attachment mod isn't operational yet.
P.S. 2 check the sig

agreed, the ending was utterly lame, it just has 'wait for esp 3 ' written all over it. i came out of it not really caring that i'd finished. the first game was a great feeling, either way you finish it. at least malak also put up a decent fight.

like you said, the first jedi on dantooine was a bitch of a fight, but after that EVERY fight was a piece of piss. the boss's all went no without many problems. true, the old bitch pulling your strings was done well but you'd have to be the biggest fool in the world not to see THAT coming.

overall though, i want the robes, extra powers and forms, etc into the first game. that would make it pretty much perfect i think.

Duh, LucasArts is well known for rushing games out of the door unfinished. The made their last good games about ten years ago, now it's only abusing their licenses.

The only reason KOTOR 1 was good is because Bioware is a too big and well respected developer to get bullied into a rushed relaese date. ;)
But you get my point, Since the last Monkey Island 3 99% was crap.
