@franny
Yeah, I don't get that comment either... Elaborate!
@Peltz
OR, you could play over xbox live, and EVERYONE can have good graphics, and EVERYONE can have the same advantages/disadvantages.

as in it is a full working internet browser as well as just a way of playing multiplayer games, i think anyway
basically the ps2 was hooked up to the internet but never in europe, but hopefully the ps3 will be
i think my choice of console will be which ever one has the best games to be honest
On paper, its specs beat the 360's.
Games will come on Sony's proprietary Blu-ray discs, which can hold more than 50 gigabytes of data, the equivalent of 10 standard DVDs.
The PS3 was also announced to house built-in WiFi, connecting to, among other things, the recently released PlayStation Portable. (Microsoft's response to the PS3 was swift: Later in the evening, the computing giant announced that its Xbox 360 will be able to play current-generation Xbox games. It also somewhat cheekily showed that the 360 will be able to connect wirelessly to the PSP as well.)

oh... well dunno what live is going with but i know its being made more friend-friendly; cam chat is integrated along with the already existing friends lists and voice chat. I daresay one of the reasons Microsoft won't bother making it have a browser is coz if its like the Xbox, you can install pretty much any software you like if you know what you're doing. *shrugs*
How the heck does one 3.2gig processor match up to 3 of them? Other than that I dont see much difference really. Then again we came up with this comparision at work the other day (we've been very bored recently ) and decided that:
Gamecube: Mainly kids and those who enjoy the old games like Mario/Sonic/Zelda... more of a nostalgic console
PS2: The casual gamer who wants pick-up-and-go games; can do anything decently but not great and has a wide range of games
Xbox: The 'hardcore gamers' machine; for those who want power and graphical superiority over game range
Whether or not you disagree i dont care I'm just posting for the sake of posting it lol.

what I've gleaned so far.
XBox360 : 3 3.2ghz processors (powerpc kind)
PS3: 6 3.2ghz processors (powerpc kind)
Freakin' mind blowing.

yeah, Franny, your oringal post only mention 1 3.2 processor.
Anyway, a looong time ago, I found out they'd be release the new Xbox first, straight away I thought "This, is a BAD idea" because basically, that gives sony the time needed to spend their hard earned cash developing a more powerful console.
And if what satis and franny are saying is true, then what I said is true. Anyone remember the dreamcast? Same problem. They we're just like "shit, release it" and even though it was 128 bit, just like is PS2 Counterpart, it couldn't stand up.
Oh, and franny - Speaking of the DC, that had built in web browser too, it was awesome. Shit, but awesome.

Thats an interesting concept you put forward Peltz.
I think that might actually work, in terms of game playing performance.

Agreed, the PS3 controller is horrid. Both console designs are nice, but I think xbox wins out. However, the PS3's specs are mind-blowing.

It's actually a very good design for the controller. You know these guys that always throw away their controller when they lose (maybe you're one of them), well they will no longer damage your controller!
Admire this marvellous boomerang-shaped controller, that will always turn back into your hands if thrown away. Playstation RULES!!!

LOL good point J... seems all console designers are shit with their pads though. Look at Xbox:
first released with the original controller. Bulky but good.
second comes the SController, designed for those with little hands but ultimately replacing the original... wtf, i have little hands and I don't like it
third comes the first picture of the Xbox360 pad i saw... the shop i work for, GAME has horrible cheap looking own-brand pads and THEY looked better than that piece of shit
fourth comes what seems to be the final design for 360... still looks cheap but now its shiny too.
oh yeah only good thing I can see so far: both consoles are silver! hehe. Though is the PS3 only being shown silver because of the success of the silver PS2? Maybe the majority released will still be a black console but if not *cheers* silver is so much better

Consoles are notoriously shit at gamepads.
Look at Dreamcast, Xbox, Nintendo.
On the other hand, the mega drive and ps1/2 ones rocked.

Nice specs on the Ps3, lets hope they don't fuck it up the way they fucked up the ps2.
And wtf derf, The PS pads suck, whilst they are technical, they are small and what I call "clicky" they aren't smooth to use, and the analogue sticks suck.
DC pad was fucking ace, still one of the most comfortable controllers to date, and the analogue stick actually worked.
Xbox pads: The dukes (big pads) rock, everything is in the right place, fits in my hand better than ox's cock unfortunatly, the S type controllers are shit the b/w buttons moved to a crappy location on the pad's face, and only little girls can use them.
Nintendo: I'll agree, though the N64 controller was funky, i get the feeling is was only designed with goldeneye in mind. I've used the GC pad once, and it felt like a cheaper version of a PS pad.
EDIT: Jesus christ almighty...
I just found this out about the original Xbox... it runs.. on.. a
wait for it...
Processor: 1 x Intel Pentium III 733MHz!!!! That's it? That's mind blowing... if they did what they did using that, then imagin what they can do with three.
EDIT AGAIN: I just found out that at e3, the Xbox 360's they had on display were only using 1 cpu out of the 3.
And satis, here's one for you Elder Scrolls IV
