Yeah, Starcraft was a superb game. One of those games that are still ok to play even after all those years, even if you might be praying for a better resolution. :D I fired up the orginal C&C on a DOS-based pc some tilme ago, and I couldn't believe I used to playin such a low resolution. I could see like 4 tanks at a time. Games were much less fast-paced back then too. Tanks moved sluggishly, even an infantry man could outrun most of them. The fact that tanks can get up to high speeds in reality shouldn't stop the maker obviously.

This looks the only real challenger to RTW so far, to me

http://www.strategyinformer.com/screens ... tml#latest

Rise & Fall: civilizations at war

Not much known about it yet, but the units are on scale with the building for one (Satis will be so happy) and Stainless Steel are developing. Lookin' good.

In the meantime, I picked up RTW again. Still awesome game.

I like most of the concepts in those screenshots. My impression is that it seems to look like a smaller scale and even maybe a more arcadey total war type game?

Well, not really. According to the makers it'll be something of a Age of Empires with a twist. But there will also be heroes, kinda like in Warcraft 3. No matter how it'll turn out, I hope it combines the bets of all worlds (massive battles, management and heroes)

lol...in a way, RTW already did that. battles duh, management: TBS part, heroes= family members.
